"I have 2 children at Oak Meadow School and I cannot say enough good things about our experience of over 4 years and counting! Incredibly supportive- emotionally and academically to my children. Absolutely fantastic curriculum including time outside with a naturalist and a very well developed STEM program. Both children play an instrument as part of their curriculum and really look forward to their additional specials of art, Spanish and gym. I attended the graduation ceremony for the 6th graders moving up to the middle school last spring and was really moved by their "I believe" speeches. Oak Meadow is guiding students on a level you cannot attain elsewhere and we are so grateful and thankful to be a part of this community."
"We have loved every minute of our girls' Oak Meadow education from day one. Our girls have been attending Oak Meadow school for four years and we couldn't be happier. Both of them have developed a true intrinsic love of learning, have grown in confidence, and best of all have never been held back in their learning but are always given the freedom to grow at their own pace. Oak Meadow combines the empowering child-lead, project-based, and hands-on learning of Montessori philosophy with 21st century research in education. The result is a magical combination that produces students who excel - not just at tests (which they do) but in learning how to learn. Middle schoolers graduate with critical-thinking skills, a creative mindset, and are well-prepared for any next step whether in a traditional or a progressive educational setting. One of the most inspiring aspects of a Montessori and Oak Meadow education is seeing how students advance in their education when given the tools and freedom to do so. This is best illustrated in math where kindergarteners can be found teaching themselves the basics of multiplication through Montessori materials. They study multiplication because they want to, not because a teacher is forcing them to. By second grade, these same students can be found mastering multiplication in the thousands and moving on to a deeper understanding of division. Montessori materials make math in particular so much more assessable and interesting to kids and I often hear parents say: “I so wish I had learned math this way!” Reading is also taught in a way that supports every student where they are - whether it is reading a grade level above or helping a child read with better fluency. Classrooms are set up so that the individual needs of each student can be met - a flexibility that is difficult to replicate in traditional classroom settings. Students at OM are also given a great deal of responsibility every morning to independently get their work done - giving them organizational and executive functioning skills that will serve them well in high school, college, and beyond. The community at OM is also very supportive. While there are many students who are excelling in academics there is never a competitive undertone at the school. Students are supportive of one another, including those who might be slightly behind their peers in a given subject. I can’t recommend Oak Meadow enough! The very best way to get a sense of the school is to visit and see the classrooms in action. Five years ago I visited OM on a whim. Since I had heard negative things about Montessori I didn’t think it would be the right school for us, but once I visited a classroom and saw students in action I was convinced. Now I find it difficult to imagine my girls attending any other school other than Oak Meadow. I will be forever grateful for how OM has enriched our lives."
"Based on their great reputation, we decided to send our 3-years-old son to their beginner’s class. We were told to pay $75 non-refundable application fee to “secure the final spot” which we did. They requested my son to do a classroom interview which we did and I was there and I can tell my son did a pretty good job. And later we were told we may not get the spot because: 1. My son is a boy. They already had a bunch of boys in that classroom. 2. He didn't speak English. The teachers already had 11 kids and they want an easy one. They’ve already known everything before we sent our application. We had a tour to their school and they met my son before the interview. And I kept asking what would happen if we applied. They just said you need an interview and some paper works and you are all set. They didn't stop us or even warning us which I don’t know why. This school may good for many people, but it doesn’t work for us. I wrote a complaint email to their head of school. He said he would call me but he didn’t call or reply my email. We are extremely disappointed."
"Oak Meadow is an amazing place which boost kids with self confidence. After having my daughter here for 3 years, I can say she could not been at better place, its the best. The teachers, staffs everyone contribute to the child growth. Right from greeting the kids during drop off to a comfy bye at pick off every moment is cherish able for my daughter. No doubt its excels in academic teaching styles but what impressed me more was overall growth of the individual. Thank you Oak Meadow, you are a blessing !!!"
"Fantastic school, short review won't do justice but there's a reason OMS thrives in the middle of fantastic school region - Acton, Westford, etc."
