"Stopped for $20 in gas this morning. Card reader malfunctioned, and I was told I needed to swipe my card again. The gentleman running the counter was polite about everything and the second attempt worked so I went on with my way. After checking my bank statements later in the day I realized I was actually charged twice, both times I swiped my card. I went back to the store to sort it out, thinking I would be reimbursed. I was even willing to just get another $20 in gas to call it even. When I arrived at the store, the man was gone and I was met by a woman who was immediately confrontational and verbally aggressive. I wasn’t upset and showed no negative emotions I was just trying to sort it out. Before I could even finish explaining the situation, she appeared ready to argue with me. Without trying to help or show any kind of concern, she told me she wasn’t here this morning and couldn’t do anything. When I asked if I could speak to the owner, or ask if he had a phone number she got more upset and began raising her voice. She was adamant they did not receive any money, even though just admitting she was not present. And when I offered to show my bank statement as proof, she said no, that there’s nothing she can do and they didn’t receive any money. I just wanted to calmly resolve things and believe that I entered the store with a calm demeanor, never once raising my voice or using any king of insult. Even if I was mistaken and wrong, it’s a shockingly bad way to treat a stranger. Let alone new customer. I’m not sure why she chose to be so confrontational with me, especially so quickly, but I still have not received any resolution and told I should contact my bank or come back when when the own is available if I want any kind of help. It was my first or second time there and honestly, I was just trying to support a small business over going to a chain gas station. Lesson learned I guess. If you’re going to stop here, bring cash and don’t acknowledge if you have an issue."
