Ganko Ittetsu Ramen
About the Business
Ganko Ittetsu Ramen is a unique restaurant located at 318 Harvard Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, bringing the first taste of Sapporo style ramen to the New England area. Inspired by the similarities in climate between New England and Sapporo, Japan, we aim to preserve the traditional roots of Sapporo ramen while adding our own modern twist.
Our Sapporo-style ramen is prepared in a wok, which adds a charred taste and aroma to the soup. We take pride in serving original noodles from Nishiyama Noodles, one of the oldest noodle manufacturing companies in Japan. Our noodles are aged and cured to enhance their bounciness and unique texture.
We carefully select our soy sauce from Shoda Shoyu, a company with over 140 years of experience in brewing soy sauce. Our menu features a variety of ramen options, including spicy miso ramen, silky white paitan soup, traditional Sapporo miso ramen, and more. We do not take reservations, so be sure to check the current wait time on our Yelp page and reserve your spot in line within 1 mile of the restaurant.
All of our menu items contain wheat and soybean, so please inform your server of any food allergies. We are happy to adjust the spiciness or saltiness of your dish to your preference. Visit us at Ganko Ittetsu Ramen for a unique and flavorful ramen experience.

"This place was phenomenal and definitely the best ramen I have had in Boston. I was recommended to visit constantly and saw it featured on many “Best of” lists and it truly did not disappoint. Amazing price for the portion of ramen and the quality of ingredients. This was my third time attempting to go, but only first time I have been successful so it definitely does get busy as it is a small space, so keep that in mind when you are deciding when you want to go."
"I heard several good things about this ramen place and had to try it out for myself. I went twice, first time was on a Friday night. First timers, please be aware that their Yelp waitlist function does not work. I knew it might have been packed, therefore, I was constantly checking Yelp starting at 3pm on that Friday. As the time goes by, it keep saying “No wait time”, I was very suspicious of this and kept refreshing every 5 mins. Our group of 4 showed up at 6pm and of course, there were four parties in front of us. We put our names down with the waitress at the front and waited for 30 minutes for a table of 5. We were waiting on the fifth person and unfortunately, was not able to be seated because we didn’t have our full party of five. This is not their fault, it was restaurant policy; I understand. Therefore, our party left. Second time, went with my husband on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Again, the seats were filled but we got seated within 5 minutes. The waitress at the front, check-in kiosk took our orders before we were seated. We ordered the pork gyoza, Gantetsu Shoyu, and Shoyu 1910. Honestly, I was underwhelmed with the ramen here. My husband had the Shoyu 1910, the broth was definitely more flavorful than my Gantetsu Shoyu, where the broth was mostly fat. I understand that the Gantetsu Shoyu has a thicker base but it was thick, fatty, and the flavor was flat and undeveloped. The pork gyoza did not impress neither my husband and I. My husband pan fries better gyoza from frozen. My husband expresses that his Shoyu 1910 was good, but did not live up to the hype. Happy that we gave this place a try based on the reviews, but there is better food in Brookline."
"The food is ok, but not authentic Japanese Raman. The pork is cold when I eat it right away. So does the broth and egg, a bit colder than I expected. The waitress don't let us sit in before placing any order. I can understand if it's busy, but it's not."
"This place it's truly a gem. If you plan to visit, make sure to put your name on the waiting list online at least 30 minutes before you arrive—it's a popular spot, and the wait is well worth it. The ramen here is authentic and delicious. They mainly serve miso or shoyu ramen. As a fan of tonkatsu ramen who doesn't normally appreciate Shoyu and miso ramen, I was still impressed by their miso ramen. The staff is incredibly friendly, adding a warm touch to the dining experience. Overall, it's a must-try for ramen enthusiasts seeking a genuine and flavorful bowl."
"We had Gankara Miso, Sapporo Miso, and Kara- age chicken. Kara- age was just like normal fried chicken; without the ginger dipping sauce, it would have close to no seasonings. Both ramens were okay. Broth was very salty and lukewarm. The service was not really impatient but less patient since they were super busy. We got there two minutes after their opening time and the wait was about 20 minutes. Be prepared for that. Overall it was an okay meal. We’ve had better ramen experiences."
