Reviews
"We usually encounter long lines at this restaurant, but on a Tuesday, there was no line in sight. Seizing the opportunity, we eagerly stepped in and ordered both cold and hot udon. The service was exceptional, with staff creating an authentic ambiance reminiscent of enjoying udon in Japan. In terms of flavor, the udon was remarkably clean and easy to savor—striking the perfect balance without being overly cheesy, unlike some other udon places. The dishes were so effortlessly enjoyable that you could practically finish the whole plate in a blink. Opting for the original cold Niku udon and the hot spicy Niku udon based on the server's recommendation turned out to be a fantastic choice. These dishes, touted as the most popular, lived up to the hype and made our udon experience truly delightful."
"I've been to Japan twice, and Yume Ga Arukara's udon is as good as what I've had in Japan. If Boston had a Michelin guide, this place would undoubtedly earn at least a star. The menu and place are so humble for how good the food is (honestly, all the Porter shops in this corner slap). The spicy cold niku udon is my go-to, and it is consistently delicious, though not actually very spicy. The udon has an almost al dente texture, the sauce complements, rather than overpowers, the dish, and the niku is thinly sliced and flavorful. The ambiance is reminiscent of mom-and-pop shops in Japan, where you are in-and-out quickly, as the food is the main focus (so not a place you would linger and socialize). However, that doesn't mean that the line doesn't get long--but the wait is worth it! I haven't had a bad experience with service any of the times that I've been here either."
"We came early right before noon to avoid the usual lines and were able to get seated right away at the counter. We watched the udon being made from scratch, boiled, cooled and held on ice until orders came in. Our orders were ready in 2 min and were perfectly hot and delicious. The udon is chewy and springy, just perfect."
"Hole in the wall spot, last stall in the row of Japanese restaurants shops. Flavor was pretty good for the spicy cold noodle. They'll shout out perfect if you finish your bowl of noodles (great job or good job if you didn't finish up). Order by the cash register first and stand in line to wait for seats! Enjoy!"
