Maine Meat (MEat) is a unique institution located at 7 Wallingford Square in Kittery, Maine, United States. We are a whole animal butcher shop that sources our meat from local farmers within 100 miles of Kittery. Our mission is to bridge the gap between local farms and your table, offering the freshest cuts possible while supporting sustainable farming practices.
At Maine Meat, we bring in whole animals weekly and break them down in-house, utilizing every part of the animal to offer a variety of cuts, deli meats, sausages, and hard-to-find items. Our deli meats, smoked bacon, kielbasa, and signature sausages are made from scratch with all-natural ingredients, ensuring quality and flavor in every bite.
Join us for a tour of the shop with our butcher, Jarrod Spangler, to learn about our passion for fresh, local food and how it led to the creation of southern Maine's first whole animal butcher shop. We work with local farms that focus on heritage breeds such as Tamworths, Mulefoots, and Berkshires, as well as poultry farmers who raise free-range birds processed with air-chilling for maximum flavor.
From classic sausages like sweet Italian and breakfast to unique flavors inspired by recipes from around the world, we offer over 20 varieties of sausages made by hand in-house. Our house-made sandwich meats, including smoked turkey, roast beef, pastrami, and more, are brined and smoked the old-fashioned way, ensuring a taste unlike any other.
