H&R Block

"Way to expensive for what we got. It cost more to file the return than the actual refund I got from the Feds. If I opted to have the cost taken out of the return I would have owed them money. They go up at least a hundred bucks every year. So if I stay with them by 2026 it's going to cost me over a thousand dollars to do my taxes. Their interpersonal skills were not good at all. I asked very basic questions about the return and why this year I'm being told to do something I wasn't told to do the last 5 years. In their explanation I was asked "what don't you understand?" It was very condescending to say the least. I'm pretty smart and understand a good deal. If H&R Block has been doing my taxes since 2014 and all of a sudden I'm being told to do something different- I'm asking why. So tell me why and not say 'the benefit is better, what don't you understand. Well explain the situation to me and why no one else made that switch the years prior. The hours we're awful as well. I work full-time, as does my partner, so we're at work and our preparer was only available 9a to 4p Monday through Friday. Great, so when we're available the preparer isn't and when the preparer is available we're not. So, no matter what we're playing tag. Prior years we didn't have this issue. The digital options we flat out don't like. Simply, no one asks any questions. They take the info we give them and that's all. They're not working with us. They take everything, put into their system and charge us big for data entry. They don't spend any time to understand our tax situation. I can go on and on but, honestly, there's no point. It is what it is. We're looking for a new tax preparer. Costs to much for what you get."
