"I bought a half pound of prosciutto at about 30 bucks a pound and could not even get a sandwich out of it! How is that possible? Well for starters the prosciutto was sliced thinner than the plastic that’s was used to keep the slices separated, which basically means that I paid a total of 30 bucks a pound for more plastic than prosciutto! That’s more like 60 bucks a pound for straight prosciutto! You could blame me for not requesting a thicker cut, which was what was said to me when I gently called the cheese counter to let them peacefully know!! I like the store but do not like the way it was handled. If you sell high end goods and charge high end prices then you should GIVE HIGH END SERVICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. Ill make sure I demand it the next time."
"Great shop, great cheese, great cheese mongers, good selection of specialty foods. Only downside is that they are EXPENSIVE and not just your typical 'we carry quality items' expensive. They significantly mark up all items past what it would cost at any stores that carry them in the Boston area (Jams that are 4 bucks at Wegmans are 8-10 dollars there). Not to dissuade anybody, where they are king are things that you can't get elsewhere (cheese for example). I don't hesitate to go there for those things."
"Best pastries in the Boston area. Their savory scones, plain and ham and cheese croissants are incredibly good! They also have good wines, fun selection of European products and tasty Summer barbecues. Their croissants are easily our favorite in the area and on par with the very best ones in France where we are from."
"Very special, although a bit uneven in pricing, Formaggio Kitchen is worth going out of your way. Four year old Gouda, for example, is awesome. And the cheese mongers will specially wrap your selections. Recommended."
"Shelves stocked with cheeses and meats? Check. A huge selection of delicious foods? Check. Friendly staff? Check. This place is insane. I cannot recommend it more. Having lived in Europe for a year, I know about shops like these, and I've got pretty high standards. They have sandwiches, prepared food, and they even offer cooking classes. They also have a section with candy, jams and preserves, flowers, and a wide selection of wine and beer. This place is amazing."
