"I love this railway! Nice long track, engine sheds with a TURNTABLE and an operating steam locomotive. AND they are beginning to work on the restoration to service of another steam locomotive - a really big one! The only thing I can criticise is the web site. I would like to see a section with details of all their rolling stock, including history and if it's in service, under restoration etc. live web cams would also be nice. Take a look at www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk to get an idea of what I mean. Oh, one more thing, we were able to take our small dog in the train, and also in the gift shop. Definitely a recommended visit!"
"Travellers, this is a lovely and charming ride out of North Conway. It is a family friendly excursion that everyone should enjoy. We had tickets for the second floor sky dome which made the ride extremely enjoyable because the views from the sky dome are fantastic. The guide was very informative and he was interesting. There are two snack cars on the train for easy convenience. Sit back and enjoy ride. Check it out. We recommend. TLDR - family fun"
"We had a good time at the Conway Scenic railroad. We went on the Conway valley train for 55 minutes in the first class coach, Gertrude Emma. The seats face the windows and we found that unique and useful to see the beautiful views. The train ride lasts for 20 minutes, after which the engine shifts to the other end of the train and then returns back the same way. Since we visited on a weekday, we did not purchase the tickets in advance. The woman at the ticket counter was a bit slow with service and we were worried that we would miss the train, so maybe purchasing the tickets online would be better. Tip: If you get a chance to pick the seats, do pick the ones on the opposite side of the train station for best views. Parking is available free for 2 hours right outside the station. Restrooms are available in the train in 2 coaches. It was a fun ride and a good experience, but I felt that it was pretty expensive for what it offers. So this will be a one time visit for us!"
"5 hours I’ll never get back. This experience is definitely not for everyone. We were a group ranging from 13-40 and after the 1st hour were begging for it to be over. I completely understand that you can't please everyone but, I have a feeling that most of these good reviews are from people over the age of 60. The staff was nice and the ride was comfortable, though we did sit first class. Not being able to bring your own food and drinks seems unnecessary, especially when the box lunch is pretty terrible. One thing that needs to be addressed is the fact that they MAKE you switch sides. We did our research and ordered our tickets way in advance. We shouldn’t have to accommodate those who did not and waited till the last minute. The ones side of the train is essentially worthless and thus why we slept the last 2 hours back. We will never being doing to again."
"Lovely trip We were in first class but we’re given two chairs to sit on (which were hard and not comfortable) instead of the more cushioned bench seats; our seats were the only two like this so they must have remove a bench for repair. We ordered box lunches but they were not on the manifest when we arrived so we paid $54 fur two sandwiches, pretty expensive. I have scored this 4 stars because the scenery was spectacular but they need to improve on the box lunch situation and they should give a first class comfortable seat which we paid for not two hard chairs. Windows on train were dirty so photos did not turn out very good. Overall a good trip."
