Reviews of La Pizza & La Pasta
"Meatballs seemed undercooked. Very little flavor. The pizza was decent but so chewy/soft in the middle. Like the ingredients would slide right off if you tried to pick up the pizza by hand. Service was slow. Brought out the wrong order. I'm just not happy with the experience vs. the price. They charge me for the wrong pizza as well. It's a little annoying and disappointing. Food definitely looked and felt under cooked."
"Special shout out to our server at the bar, Daniel G., for being so attentive. Order the arugula salad and the pasta bolognese. They are delicious! Do your best to make a reservation in advance. If you don’t want to seat at the bar, you’ll easily have to wait 3 hrs for a table."
"I visited Eataly for the second time after 6 years on a rainy Saturday. The whole place was bustling, and I was concerned about getting a seat at the pasta restaurant. Luckily, they scheduled me for 45 minutes later, and the table was ready 5 minutes early. Despite expecting counter seating, they gave us a table, which was nice. However, service was slow due to the restaurant's business. The pasta took 30 minutes longer than the pizza, so we were just twiddling our thumbs for a while. We saw a lot of other diners waiting for pasta as well. The margherita pizza was excellent with a thin, chewy crust. The arugula salad was simple but delicious and well-seasoned. The calamari was heavy and oily, not impressive. We tried two pasta dishes -- the tagliatelle alla bolognese had good flavor, but the noodles weren't exceptional. The linguine allo scoglio had great toppings and flavor, but the noodles were undercooked. We tried tiramisu, panna cotta, and mango gelato for dessert. The tiramisu was a standout, while the others were okay. The panna cotta was pretty bland. Overall, despite the long wait for pasta, I had a good experience. The pizza is a must-try, and I'd recommend checking for available tables even if it seems busy. The focus on fresh ingredients at Eataly is evident, and I enjoyed the food, particularly the tiramisu. I also tried the focaccia sandwich with prosciutto and arugula at the stand in the front, which was quite good."
"Food was average. Atmosphere is a bit like a cafeteria. The meatballs (postelle) were a bit spam-ish cat food consistency. The lasagne was too pasta forward, overcooked, and not enough sauce. The dessert (Tiramisu and Bavare) was great. Great old fashioned cocktail and a peril spritz. Too expensive for what is served though. Several other Italian locations in Back Bay that are not worth it compared with this place."
"3.5⭐️ Visiting La Pizza & La Pasta has always been a treat, and I've come to expect the consistent quality and mouthwatering dishes they're known for. My recent dining experience, however, was a blend of the familiar excellence and a couple of surprising letdowns. On the bright side, the linguine pasta was a standout. Expertly boiled to al dente perfection, it immediately transported me to the cozy streets of Italy, reminding me why I keep coming back to this establishment. Yet, not everything was up to par. The carbonara, a dish I've enjoyed many times here, missed the mark on this visit. The guanciale, usually a delightful component, was unfortunately overcooked to the point of being burnt. And to add to the disappointment, there was a noticeable taste of alcohol, presumably from white wine that hadn't been thoroughly evaporated. This was certainly not the carbonara I remembered. While this visit was a bit of a mixed bag, my past experiences at La Pizza & La Pasta make me hopeful for a better experience next time. I'll definitely be back, anticipating the return of the impeccable dishes I know they can deliver."
