"Let’s just say this was a surprise find like don’t get me wrong this restaurant is certainly great but it could have been amazing. Let’s start with the positive the interior really good vibe, servers was friendly, there’s a good tempo to the pace and even through it is an Italian restaurant I actually found similarities to Asian cuisine. Now moving onto the dishes we orders pretty much all that was recommended to us, the eggplant sauce itself was amazing wish the ‘bread’ that came with it was hot, the fried dough was absolutely delicious but which it could’ve had something citrus that break the saltiness, rigatoni bolognese was really yum, it felt like it was a vodka sauce instead of meat sauce with a bit of a kick, the oxtails is good but too saltiness again. The pizza crust is honestly a pieces of art but I’ve bias with the sauce because I tend to prefer tomato sauce so a cheese pizza is not my thing. Lastly the tiramisu is a must, they added a thin layer of chocolate which really help w the texture. Overall is a really decent meal but I think the restaurant could consider balancing the flavor a little bit more."
"We’ve been meaning to try Gufo for awhile now. It was a great experience. We ordered the Arancini, broccoli Caesar, Brussels sprouts and pepperoni pizza with olives on the side. To drink, we started with the pen pal and an old fashioned. The pen pal (mezcal) was so light and herbaceous. Very tasty. I only wish it had more of a fun cocktail presentation. The Arancini was so yummy and unique (Cacio e pepe). I was a little disappointed with the Brussels and broccoli Caesar. I’ve only ever had the broccoli Caesar once and it was at Fox and the Knife in Boston, unfortunately it wasn’t comparable. I wish there was a tad bit more dressing. The Brussels sprouts were labeled as fried on the menu, but they didn’t have a fried taste, I wish they were a bit crunchier. The pizza was very good. We were impressed. We only wish it had a bit more cheese. It was definitely very thin. We finished off with the peanut butter and chocolate torte, it was a bit dry. We had a latte with dessert and it was delicious. Our server was very kind, hosts were great and polite, the service was quick. Our server was even kind enough to take off the Brussel sprouts after we provided our feedback, which we were not expecting. Overall great new spot in Cambridge."
"Such a fab space. Nice and open and cheery. Tasty options for all three meals of the day plus brunch. Super chill and chic space at the bar too. A great addition to the neighbourhood."
"An emerging culinary gem in East Cambridge. Amidst the array of casual restaurants lining Cambridge street, Gufo is certainly a much-needed addition to the neighborhood. The restaurant’s modern charm, ambient lighting, and serene ambiance made for an ideal setting for a leisure dinner on a Friday. Soaked in an interesting sauce, the head-on shrimps were a nice flavor kick to start off the meal. The initial punch of saltiness from the sauce was followed by a layered dance of umami with a playful spiciness, thanks to the roasted fresno chilies. The grilled mushrooms, while maintaining grill's smokiness, were elegantly paired with an allium and black garlic sauce, adding a hint of bittersweetness to the dish. Porchetta was also impressive. The meat, with its perfectly crispy edges and decently succulent interior, was complemented by the creamy bagna cauda sauce that accentuated its umami flavors. It was without a doubt among the finest renditions of Porchetta I’ve tried in the city. The squid ink bucatini followed closely in impressiveness, with every strand bathed in a harmonious concoction of spicy 'nduja butter and the tang of lemon. Though delicious, the Rigatoni Bolognese, in comparison, was overshadowed by other dishes. We rounded off our evening with a rich, dense, and decadent olive oil cake. It was topped with quince jam which added just the right amount of sweetness, and it was a perfect way to round off our evening. During the day, they also have similar pastries and sandwich offerings that are great as well. Crostadas were phenomenal, with crunchy and buttery crust. It went particularly well with the savory mushroom toppings, and every bite was delightful. From their cold sandwich selections, roast pork sandwich was good. Provolone cheese overshadowed the pork flavors, but I liked the touch of salsa verde which nicely complemented the meat. Overall, a holistic dining experience with great ambiance, service, and food. Will definitely return to try their pizza as well."
"Dinner at Gufo was a delightful experience! All of the dishes were creative, well-presented, and extremely tasty (and all at reasonable prices). We particularly enjoyed the gnocchi and squid ink bucatini – perfectly cooked and intensely flavorful. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was fun and light. We can't wait to come back!"
