"I'll start my review by saying that the service was good. Our server was attentive, but no overly so, and friendly. That's were the good experience ended. I have never, and I mean never, had Italian food this bad. Maybe this place was once excellent and people just have a nostalgic view of it. I ordered the Shrimp Roberto. I got six (what I assume might have some shrimp in them) things that were obviously not freshly prepared, industrially breaded, fried "shrimp" and a bowl of supermarket rigatoni for $30. Thirty dollars. Thirty. The "piccata" sauce was a miracle of science in that someone had figured out how to create a stable, non-congealing, fluid that appear to be 100% butter. If there was a caper to be found, it was not in the Il Camino restaurant. Of course this fluid coated and clung to every single bite on the plate. It was absolutely disgusting. I have absolutely no idea how this place is so well rated. It's astounding. It has to be nostalgia. If you rated this place highly, I'd ask you to just once try ANY restaurant in Boston's North End. I suspect that will be an eye opening experience in the best way possible. Aside from the service, this was a terrible experience. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hopefully this review will save a few people a couple bucks."
"Picked this restaurant in memory of our dad after his passing because he was a mechanice & loved loved loved cars . Once family joined for a memorial meal I had learned he had also taken us here as young children . I believe he was leading us together. Side note it was first time we met up with his sister that he had lost contact with many many years ago. Confirmed believer he knew between the family oriented atmosphere, yummy food w decent serving sizes ,much to choose from & wonderful professional & friendly staff there was no better place to extend family"
"This is a hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. I have been going for around 30+ years and always look forward to a meal. Everything is fresh and delicious. Service can be a little slow, but that is because they are making your food and not just reheating it. Best recommendation: Chicken Picata It is a chicken breast pounded thin and lightly battered and fried served with a lemon, butter, garlic sauce. It is rich and delicious."
"The building really does not accurately represent the quality of the food being offered, nor the caliber of the staff within. The food and cocktails were all fantastic, way better than I had initially expected. I had the seafood casserole, and it was fantastic...and I am saying that after visiting Italy for a month. Our waitress, Laurel was also fantastic, warm, attentive and made our experience so fun. This is little golden gem I an out of the way location worth a drive to experience. If you found this review helpful please tap a thumbs up to let me know - thanks."
"The service was great but the dishes left something to be desired. My husband got the lazy Lobster and it was so chewy and rubbery that it was barely edible. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo it was cheesy but not very tasty. My mom got the egg plant parmesan and said the dish tasted frozen and had too much breading. Overall wasn't quite what we expected. The homemade noodles were cooked perfectly but the sauces were not to our liking. Huge portions with excellent bread and butter, just the main dishes could use a little bit of a twist and more flavor added besides just garlic."
