Mr. Cottle's journey began when tragedy struck his family at a young age, prompting him to quit high school and support his family by farming and haying fields. With the help of generous Islanders and his hard work, he established the lumberyard that is now known as E.C. Cottle, Inc.
Over the years, the business expanded to include a branch location in Edgartown in 1986, and a receiving and delivery hub at the Airport Business Park in 2019. Today, E.C. Cottle, Inc. operates three locations and employs over 40 people. The institution is grateful for its founding employees and current staff, who work tirelessly to carry on Mr. Cottle's memory since his passing in 2018.
The store offers a variety of products and services, including custom woodworking by long-time employee Carl. The institution has a rich history and continues to thrive, guided by Mr. Cottle's legacy and the hard work of its dedicated staff.
