Reviews of Handyman Connection of South Shore
"Turned out that the carpenter was a close-by neighbor, so that made it easy to communicate and to arrange for the estimate. The job was done quickly and professionally. What's best is that I'm confident that my project was done well and will last."
"We were very pleased with the plumbing and handyman services provided by Handyman Connection of the South Shore. Both men were professional, friendly and timely. They also communicated well in advance of there arrival at the house. We will not hesitate to use the company again for future projects."
"Highly recommend Handyman Connection in Hanover. My overall experience with the each person I came into contact with was very nice! Jim was the best! I had many odd jobs throughout the house from recessed lighting installation to door reframing. I also had an 800 sq ft drop ceiling replaced and a few other things done. Jim is clearly multi-talented because he was able to get everything done in good time without any issues whatsoever. Also, my dog loves him which is a huge plus because she has massive anxiety and he was so nice to her! Hands down the easiest house project transaction/experience of the year."
"I really didn't want to write this review but, if you're considering this service please reconsider. Unfortunately I had an extremely negative experience with the manager/owner Dan. The job was to replace 2 exterior doors, which I purchased myself from Cape Cod Lumber and purchased the new hardware/door knobs from Lowes, and had all the materials delivered to my property myself. I simply needed an install. My first impression of the craftsperson was actually good, and he wrote me up a quote. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn from my mistake here, what was said next was a complete lie. A single panel, standard 36"Γ82" entry door, which comes pre-manufactured in a frame, is just that, it's standard. These guys sold me on the premise that this door installation was highly custom, and that my door (a Therma-tru) was custom and required 2 whole days to install! I'm in a bit of a time constraint due to preparing to rent the property for traveling Hospital workers (as i am also a travelling hospital worker) and unfortunately I didn't realize I was being lied to... So, for anyone out there who understands business 101, being transparent with scope of work and contract details is very commonplace, you can expect an honest person to explain those details. Dan Edwards refused to explain the breakdown of pricing when I respectfully questioned the invoice. Because I soon learned that i was paying nearly 4x more than i needed to. The doors were hung in less than half a day (was told it would be an entire day to hang one door) and the charge was nearly $4,000. Current MASTER carpenter hourly rates in Massachusetts for 2023 are ~$125/hr, and replacing an entry door is a $500-$600 job. The handyperson charged me $256hr after all was said and done, and they were clearly not a master carpenter. These guys do most of their service with our local elderly, and they're shameless with disingenuous business practice. I don't believe the owner truly understands basic construction, which makes it difficult to reason with him. He has a history of 15 different jobs in sales and marketing according to his linked in account, and judging by several other reviews here, he's done this before to local home owners! His approach to explaining scope of work and breaking down invoice details is to argue, insult, interrupt and threaten with mechanics liens. HOME OWNER BEWARE. Also, my door doesn't even close, after all of that. Please look elsewhere for work. EDIT: Replying to Dan's response here. Guys please look elsewhere for work, unfortunately some people refuse to acknowledge the truth. 1) I purchased the doors completely on my own. 2) Upon contacting the manufacturer and distributor, the doors are far from custom they are quite standard. 3) Asking the installer to do "side work" is not true. The storm door was installer backwards. 4) This property is co-owned, and Dan was visibly upset when he learned that I was related to the co-owner who wanted to just understand this expensive work."
"We needed the metal screening replaced at the open end of our ground-level deck, to keep the critters out. Kevin came and removed the old, decaying screening and replaced it with sturdy, galvanized, stainless steel mesh screening. We couldn't happier with his work. He was prompt, fast, and took pride in his work. The new screening will last for years. See pix. We'll definitely be calling on him for help with our next project!"
