"Super nice rest stop! Very clean and modern, bathrooms are really well kept. There's a really high quality outdoor playground but it's closed during winter months. There's also a huge "I Heart NY" sculpture to take photos in front of."
"Nice place to take a small break along your journey. Super clean bathroom and this place has small gift and coffee shop for NY state. Plenty of parking available and it is also connected to other restaurants."
"The capital Area Welcome Center is an amazing space that's got much in the way of clean bathrooms and vending machines, an ATM, a defib station, tables with seating, information screens, and historic artifacts. It reminds me very much of the Long Island Welcome Center in the LIE. There are not restaurants here, which makes this a less-visited rest stop. For fast food and gift shop, continue past this beautiful location and go to the travesty that is the concrete and glass New Baltimore Service Area that replaced our beautiful, historic, wooden service area that we all grew up with and appreciated. New York is a true empire, stretching from Massachusetts nearly to Ohio, so corrupt construction contracts are bound to supercede our wants and needs, but such has always been the way, and probably always will be the way. Although there's obnoxiously reduced visiting space at New Baltimore, someone made a financial killing tearing our beautiful, stylish Americana rest area down to build this new monstrosity. Be happy for them and their power of persuasion. Kudos to you. If you prefer some old style wood and natural lighting, accompanied by mellow, tranquil meditative musical soundtrack, by all means, pop by the Capital Area Visitors Center, a most pleasant and comfortable space, by any taxpayer's standards. "I've stopped here multiple times over the years and it's always very clean, Bathrooms and the entire place is clean. Has a great market inside there as well and it's fun to look at the historical stuff and take a photo with the "I love New York" sign outside. Easy parking, well-designed parking lot."
"Great reststop. The bathrooms were very clean. It has EV charging stations from solar panels. There is a small playground for the kids. There is a place for pets, but I didn't see that area. We brought our own food to sit inside and eat, but you can also purchase pre-made food from a small shop that's located inside of the building. This is definitely going to be my go to spot whenever I'm driving North"
