"I was returning to this family operation for a second time, I felt I should say why. The place is calm, clean and I know the dogs caretakers because I met them! The Mom of this “Mom and Pop” is just charming, btw, and Pop and Teen Daughter are great too. They are flexible and have several levels of accommodation should you want/need extra TLC for your pet. The welcome questions. But fair warning book ahead to extent you can, they stay fully occupied- I guess the secret is out about the gem. Oh,,, and go figure they are reasonable cost wise too! Bruno was cared for so well, when I returned he wasn’t quite sure he wanted to leave, ok, that’s an exaggeration but he was so happy I knew he had a good stay."
"Actually we use the grooming services here which are wonderful. Shauna the groomer is as sweet and kind as ever and our pups are happy to go see her! It’s clean and comfortable! As far as the kennel the current owners are very welcoming and have done lots of improvements and it just feels warmer and friendlier than ever!"
"We were so worried about our 6 year old, rescue, reactive, Red Heeler/Cattle Dog, Auggie. In the 4 years he’s been with Elizabeth and me, although very loving with us, he has been extremely protective when around other people. Stu, Noreen, and staff members did a fantastic job with him, including taking him for walks, with no incidents. It is a well run facility, reasonable prices, and very nice people. Auggie seems quite content and happy. We’ll be back!"
"We always trust the folks at Hickory Hill to take great care of our three pups. We love that they can all be together while we are away with a discounted rate for additional dogs in the same kennel. They’ve walked our very difficult dog who pulls a lot and didn’t complain one bit. I’ve always been anxious about my pups when I travel, but now I don’t worry because I know they’re in great hands in a very secure facility. The staff here also couldn’t be nicer!"
"Unfortunately I cannot recommend Hickory Hill, although they did come highly recommended to us by two separate people. Our lab came home with a significant skin infection on his face which required shaving, steroids, 21 days of antibiotics, a topical soap, and a cream. This is a dog who has never had a skin issue and whose coat and skin were fine when we dropped him off. Upon arrival home after a 6 day board with our other dog, we noticed right away he had an issue. Initially we thought it was a simple hot spot, however our vet shaved his head, face, and neck which revealed the extent. I received a text message a few days into their stay letting me know that they were both doing well. No mention of any skin issue at that time, nor when they were picked up to go home. When I inquired about whether the staff had noticed any issues, I was informed that they did notice his skin was less than “pristine” however gave me no timeline for when this occurred. I have been asked to chalk it up to the bad weather that occurred during their stay including heat and humidity- although I was also assured they had air conditioning, so I’m not sure which to believe. For a total of nearly $1,000 -$735 for boarding, plus $250 in vet bills (so far), and not to mention the healing process for our dog- I do not feel comfortable recommending their services at this time."
