Reviews of Rubato HK Café
"Cute place, the decorations are adorable. It was busy when we got there and there wasn't a lot of space to sit, but given that it's a small eatery it makes sense. I got the house soy milk, sesame and hoisen rice roll, and the lava egg yolk bun. I would suggest using rock sugar to sweeten the soymilk or maybe use a sugar syrup solution so that the sugar is distributed more evenly(mine had the dissolved sugar at the bottom so it was much sweeter at the end); maybe a station for people to add their own sugar? The rice roll is nice, soft, and chewy - the toppings adds great flavor. The bun was perfect: fluffy, sweet, and warm - very fresh! Brings back childhood memories :)"
"Pretty darn good local eatery. There are window seats that you can grab to eat and the place is pretty popular and busy so I wouldn’t recommend staying too long in courtesy of other guests. The food is also really good and decently priced. It’s a me thing but the see through neon green blinds color is fun but depends on what time you come and the sun is shining in your face, it’s gets really hot fast."
"The food here is pretty good, but definitely on the higher end compared to restaurants with similar dishes. If you want something unique in the Boston area, this will probably fulfill that desire. The items you can get at other places like the pineapple bun is probably better at other bakeries. The French toast here is unique and tasty. Service can take a while depending on what you order and the place gets crowded pretty quickly."
"The peanut butter french toast was phenomenal! By far one of the best food experiences I've had while visiting Boston. The bao bun was something I had never tried, being from a small southern city, and I was blown away! 10/10 recommend!"
"Bolo Baos hit the spot. I ordered the regular bolo bao with butter (classic way of having it). Prefer the bun to be a little warmend up— regardless, still good! Had it with milk tea and soy milk (do regular sugar). Also ordered the Spam Bolo Bao (perfect for breakfast). Cheung fun is also good, it had beef, fishballs and chewy rice rolls (I do recommend ordering it with less sauce). The HK French toast for me was the star of the show. The crust on it is heavenly! And would recommend to order the egg lava (not in photo) version of it! The lady at the order counter is very nice and helpful, and just had a wonderful motherly aura to her. I would definitely want to go back to try all everything else on the menu! Be warned that they do get full for lunch so come in very early, like first thing in the AM!"
