"It's hard to decide whether the true star of Blossom Bar is the food, the drinks, or the friendly staff. The drinks were some of the best I've had in a long time, and I've never been more excited to eat leftovers. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and seemed to have a wonderful rapport with the regulars. The Duan's Whip was one of the best cocktails I've ever had, and the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce was phenomenal."
"Love EVERYTHING about this place but the food wasn’t good. I was very disappointed by the braised duck because it was so bland. The Dan noodles were good and I had to save the sauce to pour over the fried boneless pork (also bland). I wished I can love this place but I’ll only go back for drinks. Staff were wonderful but I don’t understand the rave over this place."
"The food is great with reasonable portions and prices. However, the holiday drinks were a letdown. We ordered two holiday drinks and found them excessively sweet. Even after waiting for the ice to melt half, they were still too sweet. Could be the syrup or it is meant to be that sweet. My friend, a regular visitor, felt the same about her drink. When we informed our server about the issue, no solution was offered, such as replacing or returning the drinks. Disappointingly, we were still charged for them. To be fair, the other drink we ordered from the regular menu tasted better."
"Contemporary spin on traditional Sichuan fare in an intimate vibe. My friends and I came here on a late Sunday evening and were surprised to find the place still buzzing with energy. Since we didn’t have a reservation, we weren't lucky enough to grab an indoor table, but the patio was just as charming an alternative. Blossom Bar’s take on elevated Chinese food is slightly different from places like Jiangnan. While I do prefer the latter, Blossom’s interpretation was also appreciable. They cleverly retained the core elements of Sichuan flavors - the aromatic spices, the fiery heat, and the rich umami notes. However, they present them in a more polished manner, making it a great companion for a wine or cocktail evening. With enticing photos of their specials featured on top of their menu, we found ourselves ordering three out of the four special dishes, accompanied by a side of Dan Dan noodles. The crispy fish fillet was our favorite, with its delicate crunch complemented by a subtle burst of chili and scallion aromatics. The slow-braised duck breast was another highlight; its savory richness was beautifully offset by the tartness of the pickled veggies. The only slight miss for us was the Dong Po ribs – a tad too fiery even for our palates, but the noodle’s mellow flavors balanced things out. While it's evident that Blossom Bar's offerings are crafted with a drink-pairing evening in mind, their dishes stand strong on their own merit. If you're in the mood for a sophisticated take on Chinese cuisine, set against a cozy, intimate backdrop, then this place is a must-visit."
"Come for the city-famous cocktails, stay for the amazing food that’s gonna surprise you! First heard of it when my partner got invited here by his Sichuan friend to try “real sichuan” food. Finally got to go with a bunch of friends and we loved it! Amazing Dan-Dan noodles, super tasty popcorn chicken, and fantastic creamy eggplant, but the fish with pickled mustard leaves was the standout - never have I tried a dish with that flavor and it blew our entire crew away. The cocktails are also super worthy of trying - and include some surprising flavors like sesame oil. I recommend to be adventurous when ordering - you shouldn’t be surprised! Only two gripes I have - it’s super loud inside and simple decor lacks a bit of atmosphere. It’s elegant, but very simple. And our host was not the greatest as she seemed really busy. Otherwise - one of fave spots in Boston area!"
