El Jalisco Mexican Grill

"10 out of 10! Hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants on the North Shore, and perhaps the best veggie quesadilla of my life! We live in Salem but always make it a point to order from El Jalisco—it's our new favorite. So far we've only ordered takeout but we're very much looking forward to dining in, as their cocktails sound really good. Delicious food. Great portions. Excellent service. For those who love queso and chips you will be thoroughly impressed—most places just melt some American cheese with a jalapeño, but El Jalisco's queso is top-notch—plus their salsa and guacamole are superb. I'm so glad we found this family-run business!"

"Went here for the first time tonight before a show at Off Cabot. It was phenomenal. Myself and our group are stern critiques when it comes to food and this place surpassed our expectations. We hit the apps with sweet plantains, stuffed yucca, guac and chips. All great. The complimentary table dish is chips and salsa, but they also include a delicious pinto bean dip that was great. The 6 of us got different dishes. Chili Colorado, chicken quesadilla (was massive), supreme burrito, birria tacos, steak tacos and pastor torta. We shared the bunch and all were delicious. The staff was great and so were the drinks. I highly recommend this spot!"

"Disappointed with today's visit. I was greeted immediately and brought chips and my drink order. Only one other table was eating. I was not brought a cold mug for my beer and when I made my order,to try the tamale, which was not on menu I asked if anything came with it. Server said ok then I asked if it came by itself. Server said sure. Obviously there was a language barrier and didn't understand the question. Also, chips were well done... too hard...."

"Excellent! Hubbs and I got food to-go. Chicken and steak fajitas were great! The meat was tender and very flavorful. The peppers and onions were wonderfully grilled. Beans, rice, sour cream and guac. Four grilled, warm tortillas. Yum! Cheese quesadilla was nicely grilled with sour cream and guacamole on the side. The Mexican Street Corn was super tasty, but I would have preferred the corn on the cob a bit more al dente. Finished off dinner with their Tres Leches cake. It was good. Hubbs particularly liked the cake. Overall, a very good experience, especially for take out. Larger than expected portions. Hot, fresh food. We will definitely order from Jalisco's again!"
