Reviews of Carmine
"One the plus side the food is very good. Portions are adequate. It’s a small place but a nice atmosphere. One the negative side it is pretty expensive. For example- a can of IPA is $11. I’ve never paid that much ever for a beer. As stated, the food is good, but probably close to double what you pay for such a meal locally. They give you bread but only two small pieces. On top of that they charge you a fee for the kitchen help. I’m local, but I won’t be coming back."
"We found this quite by accident as we had no specific place in mind for dinner. Very happy we took a chance as everyone in our party of 5 loved our dishes. Very small venue so reservations probably necessary. Bar seating is available. The chairs were not very comfy but I think that is by design."
"After a long day of fishing, my party arrived to Carmine at 8:55 PM, just five minutes before the kitchen was set to close. Despite our late arrival, we were welcomed with open arms. You scan a QR code to view their menu - a feature that I love to see from restaurants. 1) It saves trees and 2) think about how nasty a physical menu is. Think about all the gross people in this world who don’t wash their hands that touch those things. At one point in the evening, I got up to use the restroom. It’s always a gamble using a restaurant bathroom. You really put a lot of faith in the lock on that door to protect you from public embarrassment. And let’s face it, those locks can be flimsy. I noticed that the Carmine restrooms door had two locks for extra insurance. I felt very secure. The food was delicious - a filling Chicken Parm with fresh homemade pasta. I’ll be back."
"The menu at Carmine Newburyport offers a range of culinary delights that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the charming and cozy ambiance. The staff specially Dennis Kane went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience, offering recommendations that were phenomenal! I highly recommend is the Ahi Tuna Arrabiata, I loved the Moroccan olive dressing as well as Asiago Meatballs. I can’t wait to visit Carmine Newburyport again soon!!"
"Great spot for a delicious Italian dinner date! It felt like a real treat, between the atmosphere, the great service, the generous wine pours, and of course the food. The octopus puttanesca beat all expectations, not only was the octopus itself great, but the sauce and gnocchi were A+. The appetizers are on the larger side so the side of us were happy with one. As for entrees, the cacio e pepe pasta was my favorite, but the tuna from the tuna pasta dish was also really tasty. I really wish they had dessert, but at least just that day it was only dessert drinks. Great date spot!"
