Boca Grande Taqueria
About the Business
Boca Grande Taqueria is a beloved institution located in Harvard Square, Brookline, Massachusetts. We pride ourselves on serving fresh meats, poultry, and vegetables every day, as well as vegetarian-based beans and rice and sauces made from whole, fresh ingredients. Since opening our first location in Porter Square in 1986, we have expanded to five locations, all while maintaining the same delicious menu that our customers love.
In 2016, Silvia Whitman took over as owner after working at Boca Grande for 25 years. She has continued to uphold the taqueria's legacy by listening to customer feedback and making sure that the food served is natural and unadulterated. We prioritize health by avoiding unhealthy ingredients like hydrogenated oils, trans-fats, preservatives, artificial flavorings, and MSG. Our commitment to using fresh, unprocessed ingredients sets us apart from other restaurants.
Visit us at either our Cambridge or Brookline locations to experience the delicious, authentic flavors of Boca Grande Taqueria.

"I had a barbacoa wet burrito for dinner here. The place was mostly empty, but I was eating kind of late. It's not fancy inside, but the service was friendly. As for the burrito, it was good. I think the barbacoa I make at home may be a smidge better than here, but that's not to say this was anything but good. Also worth noting that this a rare $20-ish dinner in this neighborhood of upscale restaurants."
"Really loved this place!!! The food is fresh and very tasty. The seasoning doesn’t overpower the taste of the ingredients and you can actually know what you’re eating!! Definitely recommend !!!!"
"Decent Mexican food for how quick service is. The price isn’t bad either. I’d return to try their tamales. I really liked the carnitas and their guacamole was good too."
"I’ve literally never tasted such bland Mexican food in my life, almost completely flavorless. Like even my white suburban mother uses a seasoning packet or two for taco tuesday lmao but this truly had nothing. I got a burrito bowl which was missing the salsa and cheese that were supposed to come with it so my lunch was just a bowl of bland rice with a side of pork and beans. Had to go home and add my own ingredients/spices to make it worth finishing :/"
"The quality of the food was noticeably low. The chicken was not tasty and the rice was very bland. Ordered a burrito, paid top dollar for it and it was not good. When you start paying a lower cost for sub par ingredients and charge more to make more margin people will start to notice."
