"Pay attention to the written sign posted there's a 15% gratuity automatically added to any party of 3 or more. I personally think that's excessive for a small diner. My friend and I ordered the catfish special with grits for around $10. We were very disappointed when it came and it was literally frozen fish that comes in a bag. The grits were mediocre. We chose not to complain. When we get our bill we noticed small charges that didn't make any sense. Come to find out butter and cheese is extra on grits. It was .50 for each item. My bother ordered some kind of omelette. He asked for the mushrooms and cheese to be removed and green peppers and spinach to be added. That turned out to be a extra charge. My problem is not so much the charges but the fact that none of it was mentioned when were placing our order. When I questioned about the charges I was told well it isn't on the menu that way. So I guess we were supposed to eat the grits plain smh. Also, once you change the omelette it's no longer the same omelette off the menu and you are then charged accordingly. If you're already getting a 15% gratuity there's absolutely no reason to pad the bill. I will never eat there again. I will tell all my friends in that area to never go there. The woman who took care of us was rude and dishonest. There's plenty of honest businesses that myself, family, and friends can spend our money with. DO NOT RECOMMEND!"
"Despite all the bad reviews I read, Loved the food, Service was a little slow but it’s understandable because a lot of people come in and out. Overall 5 out of 5"
"Excellent small diner right in the port district. Family owned, friendly and attentive staff. Food was excellent and cost effective. Typical diner fare - eggs, home fries, pancakes, bacon, toast. Nothing fancy, but plenty of it, and pretty damn tasty. Excellent bottomless coffee as well. They serve lunch and have home made specials as well, that I have yet to try because I'm always hungry for breakfast The atmosphere is what you'd expect in a diner - plenty of booth and table seating with a bar counter and stools along one side. Patrons consist of all colors, races, and walks of life, all getting along and enjoying some excellent diner food. I don't pass up opportunities to stop at this place when I'm in the area and have time for food. Neither should you."
"Great food. Great location. Food was great. I went with my kids and everyone got some really tasty food. I got the sausage biscuits with gravy and home fries. So good. Definitely make a stop here. Food is really tasty."
"Nice little diner on Allen’s ave. In Providence, RI. We stopped here for breakfast, it was my first time visiting OV’s... but I’ve been back a bunch of times since. The first impressions were good.. a nice little breakfast diner vibe. The service is prompt, and friendly. Everything looks great on the menu!! ..but I seem to always get the Rhode Islander omelette; which is filled with bacon, sausage, and ham. The server(s) are on top of the coffee.. seemingly constantly refilling it throughout the meal. I love OV’s! Go check it out!"
