Reviews of Apple Cinemas Merrimack
"This place used to be amazing when it was brand new, but it's gone downhill fast. The user experience for ticket purchases has always been cumbersome. You get no email confirmation with a QR code, or it goes to your junk box, so you have to screenshot it or use the computers inside the facility to regenerate your purchase. The convenience fee to reserve your seat (which you pretty much have to do) is frustrating and excessive. The theater is understaffed. There hasn't been anyone there to collect tickets or tell you which theater to go to on my last 3 visits. It's on your eticket (if you remembered to screen shot that area of it) but there's no one there to check, so you can just walk into any theater. The trash cans are often overstuffed. Not enough cleaning crew to keep the self service machines clean, either. Two visits ago, one of our two reserved seats had a broken chair. No recline in row 2 meant looking almost straight up to watch the show. Last night, I went with two kids. The only seats together were in row one of a different theater room. This time, NONE of our seats reclined. In fact, the whole front row didn't recline. If this is by design, you can't charge full price for those seats. Additionally, the icee machine was only dispensing one of 5 flavors. The other 4 were broken or rebooting. One of the two butter dispensers for popcorn was also broken. If you're going to see a sentimental movie with the occasional scene, forget about it. The walls in the theaters don't contain the sound, and inevitably, this quiet moments meant to make the viewer cry are only met with frustration as you can hear the booming bass explosions and gunfire on either side of you playing out in the neighboring theaters. The staff working the concessions are the highlight of the establishment. Always friendly. But it doesn't nearly make up for all of the negatives. It's such a shame what has happened here. It turned from a great value a couple years ago, into something unrecognizable today."
"It was nice, comfortable seating. Ridiculously expensive. $16 for a small popcorn and small drink. I liked the self serve popcorn and drinks. Did not like that you still needed to wait in line for your cups and containers. After watching previews they had us change theaters because it was a little chilly. I think this is something that could have been avoided. I only went because I was with a group."
"It gets two stars for comfy seats and good enough video and sound. Went to a matinee two days ago. One of the popcorn machines was broken and the other one was filthy. Got to our reserved seats and the theater hadn’t been cleaned after the previous movie. Our seats in particular were disgusting, covered in grease, crumbs and popcorn. I told one of the two clearly disinterested employees about it who said they’d come and take a look. But they never set foot in the theater. We ended up having to sit in different seats which can be problematic with reserved seating. When the movie was over, there wasn’t a cleaning person in sight and I’m certain the theater wasn’t cleaned after our showing either. It wasn’t very busy so even if they were understaffed, nothing was stopping them from at least a cursory cleaning. Most of the stalls in the women’s room didn’t lock and sanitary bins didn’t have lids nor liners. Very disappointed with our experience. Clearly these are solvable problems that’ll have to change before we consider going back."
