"The staff were kind, loving to my animals, and very clear about their care and cost of services. I'm so glad to have both pets (cat & dog) as patients here!"
"I can only assume the good reviews are from people "in the dark" like I was for many years. The employees who work here at the desk and some of the vet techs are very kind people, so you get a false sense of security that your animals are getting the appropriate care that you paid for. After I stopped bringing my pets to this vet's office due to the vets' abhorrent over-prescribing, over-vaccinating, poor communication, incompetence, doing procedures (such as injecting medication) without my permission and never informing me about critical blood markers over the years (which I found after I transferred everyone out and obtained their records). I discovered my pets were getting a cocktail of vaccinations annually (the standard is every three years and the older they get, the more risky it is -- no one ever asked my preference, they just did it and then put in on my bill. Sadly I trusted them and paid whatever was on the invoice without thinking I needed to second guess anything). One of my cats had a stroke shortly after getting vaccinated here. My senior dog suddenly had neurological problems after getting vaccinated here (on their aggressive annual schedule). One of my cats developed a nasty respiratory illness *5 days* after her wellness visit. I called them and their response was "it didn't come from us". That respiratory illness was spread throughout my house and was the ultimate demise of 2 cats. My elderly cat was prescribed a cocktail of medications (I foolishly gave to her without doing my own research) that I later found is a lethal combination, and I took very poor advice that ultimately resulted in her painful death. There were ongoing dangerous levels in their blood work that went on for several years, which I was not notified of. I saw notes in their file to make follow up appointments about test results, which I was never asked to. My pets were ALWAYS sick and on medication under the care of this clinic. It all started about 1 year after bringing them here and went on for about 5 years until I got smart and left. I thought it was bad luck until I started putting the pieces together. I always felt bullied whenever I had legitimate questions. If certain but serious questions were asked at Apple the vets would act offended which shut down the entire conversation. Now I'm going to a much better vet. While the damage has been done, my pets (my children) are getting the proper care (for the same level of cost). After every visit at my new vet, I get reports, bloodwork diagnostics, test results, written treatment plans and I feel listed to, services I never got at Apple Country. I'm so very sad that I trusted the vets at Apple Country (and some vet techs). I still feel overwhelming guilt that I put my trust in strangers running a business to keep your animals sick rather than trusting my own instincts. Do trust this, there is no recourse if a vet injures your pets. Complain to regulators and they will do nothing to help you. The 256 CMR 7.00: CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT regulations on vets is extremely limited. You need a very high level of scrutiny with these people and don't allow them to push you around, lie or manipulate you with "niceties", nasty jabs or guilt trips. They claim they want to "save you money" -- treating animals properly so they stay healthy saves you money, not taking bad advice or doing aggressive quick fixes (that cause adverse reactions or horrific side effects) to get you out the door with procedures that maximize their profits. My advice -- get out while you still have time to!!"
"I've loved the care and service from every vet, tech, and admin here over the last 5 years. They helped me through the last years of my elder cat and her kidney disease. They helped me know when it wasn't time and when it finally was. Now they're my immediate choice for the new kitties care!"
"We've taken our pets here since we moved to Maynard in 2014. They've been nothing but kind, courteous, and compassionate, even through the pandemic, and when we've needed to say goodbye to a pet, they've had the most peaceful farewell possible. The care our pets receive has always been excellent. And the prices are always very reasonable compared to some other clinics we've gotten estimates from!"
"Apple Country Animal Hospital doctors and staff are exceptional. They are always happy to see my pets and provide a clear diagnosis or path forward. Lab results are available within a short period of time followed by an explanation. I would recommend you to anyone!! Thank you :)"
