Reviews of Atmark
"Current tenant: I wouldn't recommend living here. I initially moved here because the price (with the special) was competitive for the area and the apartments seemed nicer compared to other apartments I toured (I did not tour any others that were advertised as luxury). In under three months I have had three separate issues with billing/payment. The most recent, prompting this review, was that the landlord sent out eviction notices under people's doors due to THEIR OWN autopay systems being down for months. I saw at least five of these notices just by walking around the building and spoke to another tenant who had this problem. There was no communication that autopay was down for two months or that there was any issue with payment (which again was due to their own systems) besides a letter at your door at night when there is no one to contact until the next day. The letters made it seem like we would get evicted over management's mistake, and this is the most unprofessional way I've ever seen an apartment issue handled after living in multiple other complexes. The other two billing issues were that my lease was generated incorrectly and I had to negotiate with the leasing office to charge what was clearly stated on their website (several hundred lower/month than what was on the lease), and that the one month rent special was not applied when I started renting, so I had to specifically reach out to fix this. It seems they do not follow through with what they promise unless they are specifically asked. As many other reviews state it seems management is a mess, but the people at the front desk/leasing office were always courteous and they are not at fault. The apartments are nice, but for a "luxury" apartment there are a number of issues. Mine were the thermostat not working, the windows not being sealed properly, and there being no noise isolation from the commuter rail and construction. Visitor/street parking is also a pain, which is disheartening especially with the number of empty parking lots nearby. There are some surface level amenities, such as free food a few times a month and free coffee, but I would vastly prefer feeling safe and comfortable in my home (e.g. knowing I won't get evicted, knowing that there isn't a brothel literally running out of my building) over that."
"I moved here at the beginning of August from Boston, this is my first OWN apartment from the second I called yo learn about the apartment I dealt with Tasia & she made it super comfortable to learn more about the complex . Once I was ready to move I spoke with Caleb. He was so calm and informative. This made me even more anxious to move in. Now in November I’m here at im happy and super comfortable. Tasia goes above and beyond for the residents! I’m super grateful to have her here ! Anyone looking to move in just do it! Maintenance has always been great to me as well !"
"Every day I thank God I don't live here anymore. Ignore the reviews from people who had a nice tour - that isn't going to impact your living conditions for when you actually sign the lease. We lived in two different units in both buildings during our stay here. Both buildings had major issues. * Every appliance in our unit required maintenance at least once. * There was constant noise from all directions: construction, commuter rail, paper thin walls in all directions, you name it. You will be bombarded by noise constantly. * We had a water leak and were instantly disconnected from the emergency maintenance line. It was a huge hassle to get the keys to the model unit where we could stay while our apartment didn't have running water. * As soon as you move in, management will start ignoring your emails. You will be treated like a pest if you need to get anything from the front desk. They respond to online reviews instantly though. * The front door to our building was broken for months and propped open using a bucket. * The theater room never worked. * Utility bills were asinine due to the paper thin walls and lack of insulation - running the AC during the summer cost several hundred dollars per month. * Several floors in the building had a strong mold smell. * Fire alarms went off constantly, often in the middle of the night between 1am and 3am. On average, this occurred once every 2 weeks. Atmark pitches itself as luxury but is truly anything but. Our quality of life since moving has increased substantially. If you are going to spend thousands of dollars a month on an apartment in Cambridge, do not subject yourself to these conditions. Look elsewhere."
"Don't just take my word it. You're here reading reviews so take a look at the other reviews that are actually from residents (not those who gave a rating for a short apartment hunting visit). You'll likely note that while management lacks the ability to orchestrate it absolutely perpetuates "service" of paying customers that is devoid of empathy (let alone *service*). Some folks on staff here are stellar & could easily uplift this 5-star contender were it not managed as it has been managed by the owner(s). Feel free to reach out directly if you've questions about your specific decision; whether it relates to the black mold other residents have been faced with in one of the buildings (at least, especially given the upkeep of flashing and exterior membranes), and other easy improvements that could be made to the capital plan & nurturing of community desperately needed at this property. The concierges are magical, outshined only by the folks who keep this place from quite literally falling to pieces (Adam, Julio, & Julio's team chief among them). The mismanagement here cuts to the core of why pure capitalism is a sure path to lower return on investment. An easy example of the frustrations you may encounter: It's been months since I submitted a request for service to an advertised amenity, that I was told could, would, & "should" be easy to fixed and yet it hasn't been addressed at all. There's also the implementation of "modern" key technology that not only makes some of us residents feel less safe but has also resulted in my personal loss of access to what is supposed to be what I'm entitled to access as part of my lease for well over 90 hours, not even including the hours spent trying to get resolution from the would be professionals. I hope my fellow residents will chime in with their own experiences so we can make updates once we're actually in a five-star establishment."
"I was there with wife in Jul viewing. The leasing office is one of the best I have met. Professional, patient and helpful. The original offer of 1 month off does not apply to our flat but the leasing consultant - Reid - is so nice and proactive to check for us. A big surprise that he is an American who speak Chinese so fluently. The quality of the flat is great, superb location for the park and else. I am excited to move in and hopefully the service will match what’s during the leasing process! Highly recommend Reid for those looking for new flats."
