Reviews of Parker Street Apartments
"I lived here for 2 years (2021-2023). SO MUCH CIGARETTE SMOKE. I didn't realize they were smoke-allowed buildings, and it's extremely smokey. I have to wash everything when I travel to other people's houses because it's so potent, and I can often smell it wafting from neighbors. NOT ALL APARTMENTS ARE EQUAL. The building is VERY old, and management upgrades as tenants switch out. I don't recommend moving in sight-unseen, and probably ask them to tour the exact apartment you're moving into, NOT just an apartment of the same layout. Appliances differ, cabinets, tiles vs regular walls in bathrooms, showers, laminate, bathroom doors, age of windows, yellow vs white toilets, vanity in the bathroom, etc. Property manager has changed 5 or 6 times in the last two years, and they stopped giving out the new one's number last year so there's no way to contact them directly if you have a problem. (The property manager is suppose to live on-site, but some don't.) Your only option is to call management DFI itself, who don't have the ability to leave voicemails. Whether and what time they salt in the winter depends on the property manager you get. They have an online portal where you can pay rent, and I've never had trouble with it, but my neighbor got mischarged for his neighbors' rent twice. You can also file help requests on the portal, but it usually takes 3 weeks for a response. (Be aware that the community help requests for common spaces shares apartment #, email, and full name of anyone posting for all residents to see.) The place is very informal. Sometimes that can help you, like if you need to modify a lease date or work out a payment method, but most of the time it's very inconvenient. I cleaned apartments between tenants for a few months in 2022. There were a few apartments on the ground floor with tons of mold, and management really skimps where it can (such as scraping rust off old fridges and repainting rather than replacing, and not filling in insulation between certain walls). The septic has had trouble for years and sticks very badly most days, and backs up twice a year on the side near the pond if it's not regularly cleared (though they may be finally working on it as of January 2024!) There is no security deposit, which some tenants abuse. The laundromat is about 7 minutes away, but is $6-7 per wash load and $0.25 per 5 minutes for dryer and is cash only. (as of Jan 2024) BUT, Parker St is also beautiful. The river right next door, green grass, forest. You're right against the train tracks but they're quiet so you can just enjoy watching. There's animals all around, nice neighborhoods nearby. Little traffic. A year-round farmer's stand just up the road, and quiet secluded spaces."
"I lived in this place for 5 years and all I can say, it gets worst every year. Property manager promises to fix the problems in the apartment but all he does is lying, The entire building complex is a wreck, black mold inside every single wall. Everytime someone moves in, they patch and hide the damages with new paint, new carpet, and new kitchen cabinets but the truth is, behind the walls it's all rotten. I could go on and on with the property problems, but there's another issue that's more concerning of all. The agency it self puts poor unprofessional managers running this place. Last manager working there, name was Michael the dude would have young females moving in and harass some of them. Couple of times I had my neighbor complaining about him eventually she moved out because of him Also lately he was fired from the agency because he stole the rents money people had paid him and in result of that many of the tenants had to go to court or repay for the rent he stole. My advise, think carefully before u sign a lease with this place or u will regret."
"I have lived in these apartments for almost 5 years. While the cost of living has steadily gone up , here is what I can honestly say about my experience here at Parker Street Apartments: The overall quality of living in these apartments has definitely gone up a lot since they hired the new property manager, Mike Baldasaro. He is a professional, courteous, responsible and caring man, who takes good care of his residents in return for their proper rent-paying and respect on their part. I am very thankful to have lived my 3.5 years out of 5 here under his supervision. The previous “property manager”, Chris Halpin, was an absolute disaster , I don’t know how in the world he got the job in the first place. He was extremely rude to the tenants, loved to act like a tough guy, and even insulted residents on a personal level. It was indeed a happy day for the residents here (myself included) when Mike replaced him. Overall, I would definitely recommend Parker Street Apartments to anyone looking for a safe and comfortable place to live. This is no luxury condominium, but a good place to spend a few years of your life till you can afford to buy a property. God bless ."
"I have been living here for two years and it was the best decision. The Super is thoughtful and always available. Quiet neighbor. Truly a diamond in the rough. We got nee appliances and flooring to come next. I see the photos and I'm amazed because our apartment doesn't look any thing like the photo minus the AC. The landlord is very negotiable when we wanted to paint over the cabinets and change our countertop in the kitchen even help us put up our spice rack up. Its not the Avalon... I like to call it our little nest. The neighbors are friendly. I wish they painted the outside another color...lol But thats it"
