Colonial Village Apartments

"My wife and I lived at Colonial Village Apartments for four long years. It was the worst place that we had ever lived. We lived on the first floor. The noise from the upstairs apartment was unbearable. They made all kinds of noise day and night. The neighbors across the hall had a dog that barked day and night and made it impossible to watch TV. The neighbors in the apartment where there was a common wall between their bedroom and ours showed no respect and made a lot of noise also. We complained about the noise to Kamins Realty and because we did we were the ones that received the written complaints. Patrick Kamins who owned Kamins Realty and was the head manager told us that he wouldn't extend the lease past August which was our expiration month. He sided with everyone else and made us look like everything was our fault. The apartment was supposed to be completely renovated before we moved in which it wasn't. The kitchen was in total disrepair. The refrigerator was old, rusty, moldy and was falling apart. Kamins Realty, who managed the place, refused to replace it. There was even missing parts. Trying to get maintenance to do anything was next to impossible. When they did show up, it was unexpectedly. They were supposed to give 24 hours notice which they never did. When they did show up they just came barging in without knocking. The apartment was bug infested. I'm disabled and getting maintenance to shovel the walkways during the winters was too much trouble. I was stuck in the apartment most winters because of it. My wife and I have been homeless for eight months since leaving. Patrick Kamins told me that he wouldn't give us a good reference. That's what we get for complaining about the deplorable conditions. I wouldn't recommend that apartment complex to my worst enemy if I had any. Speaking to other people in Amherst, we found out that we weren't the only ones that had been driven out."

"Worst apartment complex I have ever had the misfortune of staying at. Rooms are over priced and target students, complex is very dirty litter everywhere and the trash piles up spilling out of the dumpsters, complex offers one washer and dryer shared between 8 apartments which you have to pay for and do not work. The administration & maintenance team ignore calls and have showed up 3 weeks after I called unannounced at 8am. Only stay here if you hate yourself."
