"Jezelle is lovely and have skill. Peaches runs her shop very well and makes you feel welcomed to be there."
"You have to be buzzed in, as the door stays locked, so you have to turn the handle to leave and then push out the door, it is not heavy though. I needed to have someone wash my hair for me due to a current injury and having to treat my hair on a 'just in case measure' with Nix due to finding a couple bed bugs after a break-in, and freaking out and wanting to make sure I was cleaned up. I sat with that stuff in my hair for three hours because I was so freaked out. They fit me in same day to wash it out, which was $35 which is steep, but I had no other options. She did not detangle it for me. It was a simple wash and condition. I have not had my hair washed that well in a long time. She also did part it down the middle for me like I asked which I appreciated, but she didn't put me under the dryer either or ask me if I wanted that. Everyone's hair comes out looking amazing, so I had a bit of envy while I sat there. I don't have locs, just natural hair. Some slight cons: You have to step down a large step into the area where you dry your hair, and wait to get called, so if you have mobility issues, or are dealing with chronic pain, just make sure you are aware of that. The bathroom door lock and handle was loose and busted when I was there, and the place could do with a good sweep and mop. There is no television on the other side where the hair dryers are, and where you wait but as long as you have your ear buds and your phone or a book you should be fine. I deeply appreciated being accommodated and my hair getting washed. Everyone I saw leaving looked great, but it was mostly locs, so I can't speak to if you are getting your natural hair braided. A little girl was getting extensions into a beautiful braided pattern. It looked amazing. I would try them out if you have locs or are getting your hair braided with extensions. EVERYONE I saw who left had locs and left looking amazing. They need to update their website pictures, because those pictures do not do them justice to the great work I saw leaving the shop and being done in the salon. The wait times can be long so budget your time accordingly. I was there for 2 hours before getting my hair washed and I saw a woman who was there when I got there have to wait with a shower cap on that whole time before being called back to the chair. I think they are down a stylist maybe? I didn't see hair dying or any other stuff, so I cannot speak to those techniques. UPDATE: You can see the odd an unnecessary response from the owner below. Please note, I gave this place 4 stars. 4 out of 5. Then had another reviewer literally write his review directed at me when I just stated the facts of MY EXPERIENCE! Hard side eye now. Why is everyone in their feelings over a 4 star rating? Why would I have stuck around longer? How? This place was busy. If they can't handle this light critique, what happens if you say you don't like your hair?"
"I walked in the shop for my 10:00 AM appointment and read N Neil’s review and felt the need to respond and offer a different experience. First, N. Neil I am sorry for the break-in you experienced and also having found bed bugs. I cannot imagine how violated it must have been and scary to have your space violated. And how frightening bed bug scare can be. I am truly sorry. Now for your review, I have a 10:00 AM appointment, so my experience will undoubtedly be less anxiety-producing. I scheduled a “wash & twist”, “no-style” and “leave-in conditioner”. It is important for them to know who’s coming in and for what so they can plan accordingly. I have been here and heard both of them say, “you can walk-in but I can’t say when we’ll get to you but we will, if you’re willing to wait.” That sounds more like your experience. I do recommend you call and inquire about their services and schedule a consultation appointment—they do more then locs. My first consultation appointment with Peaches, she gave a book on natural hair to read and we discussed what I wanted and the process, what to expect, frequency of upkeep and cost. Back to my appointment, I arrived 5 minutes early and I was buzzed in. I was greeted by Peaches and Jeselle (the one who washed your hair). And yes Jeselle’s hair washing skills are amazing! I WONT LET ANYONE ELSE WASH MY HAIR I’M SO SPOILED!!! N. Neil one of the many things that makes Jeselle so great is she very communicative and accommodates accordingly. I am very tender-headed and I told her once before she started and she ALWAYS remembers. I’m also confused because N. Neil you wanted someone to wash Nix out of your hair, which Jeselle did, and you agreed to the $35 price beforehand and also complimented Jeselle on, “having my hair washed that well in a long time”. So Jeselle does or doesn’t deserve her value? I won’t even tell you how much I tip her! Jeselle called me and did her magic and washed my locs. She put in the leave-in conditioner and put “just my ends” to dry. Peaches came over updated me after she finishes, I’m next. As for the layout, 3-4 TVs mounted to the walls and strategically placed mirrors to reflect video wherever you’re sitting. One side has step and the other side has an ADA ramp accessible. As for wait time, naturally if you have an appointment and not a last-minute walk-in your wait experience will be different. I was washed shortly after 10:00 AM, immediately placed under the dryer very timely with constant updates. BTW the client with the shower cap probably was having a treatment and not an indication they’re down staff. N. Neil how can you make staffing assumptions as a last-minute walk-in to a place the 1st time? #makeitmakesense As a longtime customer, I could not let N. Neil’s review stand unchallenged. One negative review impacts 8 potential customers. An unfair review has real word small business consequences. Schedule an appointment, be clear about what you want and afterwards write a thoughtful objective review. Sincerely, 1stborn"
"Very quick and efficient service. They are very professional and get to work on each customer. I appreciate the creativity with the natural styles. They truly understand textured hair. Loc, TWA, extensions and more. I will be back."
