"They have always been so good for Cookie and Toby! Everyone from vets, Dr. P, Foster, and Halverson to vet techs, and front staff couldn't be better!"
"I want to write this review with empathy because I understand that vets are very understaffed right now. A lot of people are also very rude to them, and they don't deserve any unkind treatment. I was disappointed with my experience at Shepherd Vet Clinic. I was recommended them by my partner who has gone to them for years, and he is correct that Dr. Foster and Dr. Papamitrou are amazing (I haven't had much experience with Dr. Halverson). My first appointment with my dog went well enough, but a month or so later, I called the clinic to try and get my dog in since her eyes were red and possibly infected. When I called, I was surprised to hear that there was an answering machine that said to leave a message and I'd get a call back the next business day. This hadn't been the case originally as there had been a receptionist that picked up the phone. I left a message and called again later, and there was the same answering machine. From this time until I decided to no longer use Shepherd, this answering machine was the only point of contact I was able to have with the clinic. Someone called back at 8 AM the next day, and I did not answer the phone. They left a voicemail saying I should come in ASAP as eye issues could be urgent and permanent. When I tried calling back, I kept getting the answering machine and left a voicemail that same day, then the next day. I never received another callback. I was basically forced to go to another vet since I couldn't get a hold of Shepherd, and when I found the other vet to be responsive and quick to get a hold of, I realized the right choice. I emailed them to get my dog's paperwork forwarded, and again, I got no response or email receipt. I only figured out that they forwarded the paperwork when I asked the other vet if Shepherd had, in fact, forwarded the paperwork. Maybe they're understaffed or overbooked with clients. I get it, but if my dog needs an appointment, I can't take a 50/50 chance that my vet will call me back. My only other turnoff is they really are a fan of taking the dog away from you/out of the room to do shots, etc. It seems to be a leftover from COVID times and they find easier for the dog and owner to be separated during certain procedures. I don't really mind this, but the two times this happened, they didn't ask me, they just did it. Otherwise, really nice people work here and they obviously work hard. The facility is very nice and clean, and there's a nice yard to walk around with your dog while you're waiting for your appointment."
"We cannot praise the professionalism, care and concern Dr. Foster and his staff display to their patients and their families. We recently put our beloved dog to sleep and found that through a heartbreaking experience Dr. Foster and his staff thoroughly explained the procedure and comforted us each step of the way. We have been patients of Shepherd’s Vet. Clinic for over 23 years…they are stellar in all aspects of care~"
"I had my 14 year old dog Abby there today and have taken her to Shepherd for almost three years now its challenging because of Covid19 restrictions my Abby was put to sleep today the Vets that cared for her and the Techs are very compassionate and caring it was a difficult time for us losing our girl we give a special thanks to the team that took our sweet pea to a peaceful place ❤️ Our concern was how we were treated as her family we were not allowed to go into a room with her to hold her and to say good bye she was brought out to us in 0 degree weather to say goodbye in our car and then was given back to the vet tech to be with people she was unfamiliar with and was put to sleep by her self it was a horrible experience to begin with but we as her pet parents we just felt they didn't recognize that we needed to be with her this policy is out dated for Covid protocols horrible experience !!!!"
"Shepherd Vet has been my veterinarian for 11 years now. They have taken excellent care of my cats and dogs over the years. Being in the medical field myself I feel like I am a good judge of quality care. Every doctor/vet is excellent at explaining the medical condition, the options for treatment and the pros and cons of each option so that a confident joint decision can be made in how to proceed with the care plan of the animal. I also especially appreciate their passion for their (often unappreciated) work and their empathy towards the owners of their patients. I am fortunate to have found a group of people that I can trust will do everything they can in the best interest of both myself and my animal."
