花椒苑 Spicepepper Garden

"This was our first time trying out SPG. Not sure we’ll come back. The person who answered our call and gave us our food was very pleasant. The Pad Thai was a bit different than what I’ve had before and had a very pickled taste. It had no spice to it. Not bad, just different. The real issue was with the order of Rosie Shrimp and Scallops. It was $20, and ultimately contained no scallops. There were just 8 shrimp and about a cup of vegetables. It was a high price to pay for a very small amount of food."

"This is one of my favorite local places, hands-down. EXCEPT -- if I could just review the Sichuan food, this would be 5 stars all the way. The Northern Chinese brings it down... It's bland and below average. So, stick to what these people do well -- embrace the spice! -- and you will be very, very pleased. Chicken with Two Kinds of Spicy Pepper is a personal favorite. The Farmer Style Fish Pot (or whatever they call it) is also a spicy winner. Atmosphere feels very laid-back and homey. Christmas tree lights around a fireplace even in summer, why not?"

"The food was good. Fried rice was little oily and salty. Hope they address that. Not much crowded at 2 pm when we went for late lunch. Good service. Updated 2023 May: The service and food is good now. Tried fish filet on hot pot sauce. It was very good and was plenty for 2 people."

"The owner/manager is awesome. He’s always helping with menu choices and suggestions. The rest of his staff are always very friendly. Some of the best Sichuan I have had. Nothing beats the real deal in China but I do like this a lot. My favorite is the chili fish and dry chili chicken. So good. I usually get it once a week. Many other dishes I’ve had in the past are very good as well. See you next week!!"
