"Service A+ Food A+ Atmosphere A - Cold (No heat at time). Was no problem, just wear sweatshirt. More of a heads up because you should go here tomorrow! Also, really tight parking out front. We just parked across the street. Place was busy with takeout and a few tables inside. The young lady working the floor, could not have been more courteous to my wife and I and the other customers in the restaurant. All of us understood that they were only a couple people working and the wait was a little longer than anticipated. Then our food came out!!!!!! Sushi -Yes Please. Spicy Tuna Roll. Great. I had the spicy Ramen with the pork and it was phenomenal. My wife had the cashew chicken and it was Sweet and Peppery. They offered us complementary chocolate soufflé for dessert and OMG, was NOT expecting that Delight!! I only saw two young women working there, and if they are running this entire show, my hat is off to them!!! WILL BE BACK SOON!!!"
"Everyone should know about this place! It is my favorite spot to eat in the area. The staff is super friendly and nice. The food is great no matter what you get, and it is always consistently good. The gyoza (you have to get the 12 piece) and the lobster Rangoon are my favorite apps. Any roll you get will be awesome and you won’t regret it, if you are new to sushi try the sweet potato rolls. Also the rice and noodle bowls are so good! You can ask about the spice levels and the staff is very knowledgeable on everything and can help you pick if you are unsure of what you want. We love that they are open on holidays and it’s BYOB so you can bring your own bottle of wine or 6 pack of beer! 10 out of 10 every time!"
"A hidden gem! Food was amazing and our server was so sweet! Their gyoza was so good and the supreme ramen so super rich and flavorful. The poke bowl was fresh yet filling. Highly recommend can’t wait to go back."
"Best ramen I've ever had, small local family run business that deserves all the support it can get. Will definitely be back with more people."
"A delightful bowl of ramen right in Bellingham, Himawari delivers great flavors with somewhat flawed execution at times. I started with Takoyaki. It was my first time eating something I've been curious about for years, and I was not disappointed. Nice, crisp exterior, soft interior, and chewy octopus bits made this a good appetizer. My dining partner had ordered the gyoza, and I accepted their offer to taste one. Yeah, it was super tasty. Would I rather have had it than the takoyaki? No, but I would have happily ordered a horde of gyoza if I were able to eat more than I can. For a drink, I ordered a Thai Tea. It was sweet and creamy, just as expected. Nothing stood out about it as remarkable - it was just a good Thai Iced Tea. My entree was the Spicy Miso Ramen. The broth was good, though for something described as spicy, I felt like they should have pushed it further with the spiciness. The soft boiled egg was perfect. The noodles were softer than I expected - they did not have the chew that I expect ramen noodles to have. Not bad, not great - just a little disappointing? It was somewhat more like a pho noodle than a ramen noodle. The pork was perfect. Altogether, it was a decent bowl of ramen. Have I had better? Certainly. Have I had worse? Definitely. Is this pretty much middle-of-the-road and satisfactory? Yes. For dessert, I had the strawberry crepe cake. The parts of it that weren't frozen were excellent, but there was enough of it that was frozen that I just got a huge sad - I've made a Nutella and strawberry crepe cake for myself a few years back and it destroyed this 8 dollar dessert that was inadequately defrosted. Giant thumbs down there. Beyond that, the environment is nice and the service was good. Would I go back? Certainly. There's a lot of variety on the menu and plenty to try. I will skip dessert in the future, but I'd happily drop in for some small plates and a fairly good bowl of ramen."
