"We quite enjoyed our stay at the Martin Hill Inn! We came to Portsmouth for a wedding and were there for two nights. Unfortunately it was somewhat difficult to get a hold of anyone via phone when we arrived at the property. We also found that the sliding bathroom door did not stay closed, which made for a bit of an awkward time when using the restroom. We were near the entryway so tended to hear others when they left and entered, and occasionally heard some footsteps upstairs, but otherwise the location was quiet. However, the location was wonderful with just a short walk to downtown, the price was great and much less than any hotels downtown, and the room overall was lovely! Plus, the gardens were beautiful! Would definitely return."

"The staff was super accommodating. The room was simple but lovely, clean, and elegant. The bed was very comfortable. I loved that they didn't use plastic water bottles or anything of that sort. There was nice natural light as well. The property is beautiful and peaceful with the garden and the bird songs and in a perfect location - walking distance to downtown but far enough away from the noise. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a true Portsmouth experience."

The Martin Hill Inn is within waking distance to all the action in downtown Portsmouth but is in a very quiet residential area. We are already planning a return visit."

"This is such a special Inn. So nicely decorated. Clean and modern. I would live in the Athena Room as an apartment. Two bedrooms. The comfiest bed and high thread count sheets. I can’t wait to go back. Portsmouth is so cute and this is the perfect place to stay. Wish we could have stayed longer!"
