"Don't waste your time. I was outfitting a new boat and was looking at a 440.00 standard horizon vhf/ais radio that a associate had prior told me they price match because I had found it cheaper at the GPS Store but the manager I needed to talk to was not there at the moment so I continued shopping and had added another 325.00 worth of merchandise to my cart. At that point I headed towards the cashier and asked him who I needed to talk to about a price match on the radio? He pointed him out so I approached him and showed him the radio being on sale now for 334.00 at the GPS Store (free shipping). he quickly and rudely said that they won't match that and that it had to be from a brick and mortar store no more then 50 miles from their store and rudely walked away. At that point I put all my merchandise back on the shelves and left. I don't believe the manager knew how to discount it nor did he want to be bothered. So they lost 650.00 worth of my business and I will never again shop at West marine ."

"The staff at every west marine seem to think that anyone who comes in there is about to spend their day boating. Some of us are grabbing stuff to work with and need to get moving! Always very slow and never know the answers to questions. However, they are nice and do try to help. Kudos for that. Also west marine has mostly what you need, but they're quite expensive."

"Bring lots of evidence if you plan on using price match. Found a seat online that I wanted and came here since they had it in stock. I found the seat in the store that was the exact seat. However it had been repackaged with the west marine name on it (see pictures below, you can see the actual brand name behind the blue mesh. Sorry I couldn't pull down the mesh any more w/o breaking the stitching). I brought it to the register with both the link from amazon and their online store. Here's the fun part. I showed them the amazon pricing which was the lowest. Their website showed a different (higher) price and the actual product had even a higher price on it. The cash register told me this was West Marine brand and tried not too honor the price match, even with the actual brand name branded in the seat (actual brand is Surf to Summit). Fortunately the manager was there and had some common sense. So buyer beware know that West Marine repackages other brands products as their own. I do thank the manager and another employee who helped me out. Unfortunately I forgot their names but they were helpful. Btw if anyone is wondering the seat itself is a surf to summit gts expedition kayak seat."
