"I had been going to this dentist since I was a child and never really questioned their policies or expertise. However, eventually I got fed up with feeling like I was in a car dealership every time I went to get my teeth cleaned. I often felt as if I was being pressured into unnecessary procedures. Example: every time I went in there, they told me I had severe damage from teeth grinding and insisted that I purchase one of their custom mouth guards for $600. I had no symptoms of teeth grinding - no headaches, no jaw pain, no sensitivity, nothing. They consistently made me feel like I was not being responsible about my dental health, just because I didn't want this mouth guard. When I asked why I couldn't just use one of those cheaper guards, they told me those were incredibly damaging to your bite. Eventually, I got a new dentist because I was so frustrated with this situation. The new dentist told me that I had very minimal signs of teeth grinding, no more than the average person. So, in short, they were trying to take advantage of me. I was very disappointed to know that they would do that after going to them for my entire childhood/adult life."
