Reviews of Rhode Island Children's Dentistry & Orthodontics
"Everyone who works here is so amazing my oldest has fears regarding the dentist and they make her feel confident and comfortable there are truly the best"
"My son loves coming to the dentist here. Everyone is kind and gentle with him and the dentist is patient and helpful at easing the nerves of both my son and I when doing dental procedures. I love how they have TV's on the ceiling for the kids to watch during the examination."
"Took me months and months of harassing them to get my son the surgery he needed. That leave me til last minute on my son's appointment to try and cancel or reschedule it to the middle of a school day, with no other option. Everytime they have an issue they screw over my son and i. Good luck to anyone else using them!"
"I do really like this dentist office because they are friendly, calming, and good at getting kids through dental appointments with a minimum of fuss and bother. They also have never attempted to tell me that my kids had cavities that they didn't really have, which is something I have experienced myself at other dentists. However, I have two gripes: 1. The movies they play in their office, while generally kids' movies, are sometimes on subjects my kids have not yet been exposed to and I've worried about them coming away frightened or asking questions I'm not sure I'm ready to answer. A good example here is The Lion King: love the movie, but was concerned about explaining to my 2 and 4 year old about Simba's dad dying. Yesterday it was Sing 2, which looks like a Superbowl halftime show. If it were people instead of cartoon animals, it would look pretty raunchy and I don't think my kids need to see even cartoon animal butts twerking. Your mileage may vary. 2. I wish that the office was not connected to or affiliated with orthodontia. My experience with this is that orthodontics appointments become an upsell at age 5 - 7 in a way that is uncomfortable for me...it feels like a hard sell, and I'm skeptical that my kids actually need it. My skepticism is partly because they pretty forcefully told me my 6 year old would have teeth crowding and would need braces at one appointment but 6 months later he got a clean bill of health and there was no mention of it whatsoever. Also, in my own reading about orthodontia after that initial appointment, it seems that early treatment of "bad bites" often just results in a longer treatment time frame, with unclear benefits and potential for harm. It feels like they just want to refer more clients to the orthodontic side, and I suspect they refer just about everybody once they get to a certain age, regardless of whether orthodontia is medically necessary and covered by insurance or not, and ours isn't covered. This had the additional side effect of frightening my 5 year old girl: she came away from her appointment very worried that if she didn't stop sucking her thumb that night, a dentist would come to our house right away and force a palette expander into her mouth. It took a while last night to get her calmed down and ready to sleep. If it weren't for the movies and the hard sell on orthodontia, this practice would be an easy 5 stars for me."
"I cannot say enough good things about my son’s last visit with this office. He is autistic and very cautious about people being in his space. This office is always so patient with him, and somehow are always able to complete whatever needs to be done without upsetting him. I highly recommend this office to anyone who has children with special needs!"
