Reviews of Sonesta Select Newport Middletown
"Great hotel. The rooms were big, clean and weren't old. The front desk was really kind and helpful according to my wife. We liked the fact that it was a little out of the way so it was very quiet. The rooms were very quiet. Would go back anytime."
"This place is quiet, clean, and comfortable. It reminded me of the Marriotts we stayed in. We chose this hotel because it is quiet. If we booked at a hotel in downtown Providence, it would have been too noisy for comfort. If we return to Rhode Island, we just might return!"
"Wow. Save your money and go somewhere else. What a dump. Trust me. I am nowhere near a snob, but what a complete waste of money. Rates jacked up for college family weekend. $465 for 1 night. First off, I repeatedly looked outside to check on my truck. Weird and not so upstanding people wandering around the parking lot. The room was completely damp. It rained for the past few days, but the room shouldn't be muggy and damp on a 50 degree day. The entire first floor stunk of Chinese food. Like really bad. I wouldn't let my dogs go in the pool, let alone myself. The "patio" feature was an absolute joke. There's 1 chair on top of loose rocks. There's no patio at all. That and the wonderful view of a construction crane outside my window. The walls are paper thin and can hear the TV next door. Oh, and the bed... picture sleeping on a trampoline. I sat on the bed and bounced right back up. I am beyond pissed and completely shocked that this hotel chain is owned by a marriot. I didn't think I was booking at the Trump plaza hotel, but this place should've costed $46.50 a night. Not $465. Never again will I stay here. Hoping I don't wake up itching from any bed bugs or something."
"We just visited this hotel last week, and unfortunately the only positive aspect is its pool. The rooms are dirty, the ceiling appears to have never been painted, the beds are uncomfortable, and there is only one trash can in the room and none in the bathroom! When we arrived, there were two bath towels in the room for the three of us! However, their service was the most disappointing aspect of the experience! I called the front desk and asked for more towels and another trash can. Thomas informed me that I would have to pick them up myself. It was not possible for them to provide us with the basic necessities. If you are not willing to spend $270 per night and receive absolutely no hotel service, you should avoid this hotel. PS. As a result of talking to the manager, who was very nice, we got a credit for one of the nights, but I still feel like it wasn't enough. There has never been a time in my life when I have experienced more poor service at a hotel!"
"My now fiancé and I stayed here the weekend we got engaged. The staff, especially Claudia, and manager, Cynthia, made our weekend beyond special and memorable. Our room was clean and it was a fantastic location. I recall looking all around me and seeing families and couples staying and visibly seeing everyone enjoy themselves at the pool and in the lobby. The coffee was also great!! We will most definitely be back for many years to come!"
