Reviews of Club Wyndham Bay Voyage Inn
"Stopped in to check in for the Newport Overlook location. Very nice. Nice view across the bay. The staff are great, very helpful. The restaurant next door is great ,too. Sorry, I can't recall the restaurant name. Lots of free parking."
"We ate at the restaurant. Food was very good , except they were out of alot of dishes. They were even out of a beer I ordered. There was no bathroom on the floor where we were seated . We had 4 senior citizens with us that had a difficult time with the long way to get to the bathroom downstairs. My uncle had to ask the waitress to clear our plates because they were still on the table over 30 minutes after we finished eating. The view was beautiful. The food was delicious. I only gave 3 stars because I feel we should of been told about the bathroom situation when we made the reservation because the seniors we were with had a very hard time navigating their way there. If your younger, this restaurant is fine. If you're older or handicapped, it is not. We did not stay in the hotel, so I can't comment on that."
"This is my Home Resort at Club Wyndham. I've owned for many years (30 plus). The location is second to none. It is convenient to get to, and easily accessible. There are some drawbacks like the rooms facing the traffic side of the resort, but that's a function of location that cannot be changed. As travelers discover the lure, and lore of Jamestown traffic has increased over the years. The rooms need to be updated. The furniture is old, and out sync with the times. The rooms are, indeed, small. However, the size is a function of the times the building was built. The electronic keys don't work so well, and I found that other guest also had problems getting in and out of the resort, and their rooms. All doors are locked for security. I would recommend cameras at the points of entry, and stairwells. The lobby is updated, although I don't think it's the best use of the space. It used to be more welcoming physically. The style was more Victorian, traditional, and stately. Now, the décor is modern, contemporary, again out of sync with the style of the building. The restaurant, and patio have been updated for the better. Please bear in mind that the restaurant is a separate entity than the resort, and warrant their own review. This is, at least, the fifth, or sixth restaurant that has tried to establish itself there. The pool is well kept, and relaxing. The facility is away from the hubbub of Newport, but within reach by car, bus, or ferry. I recommend the ferry. The staff has a lot of turnover throughout the years, but then again, that is a function of the location. The maintenance staff deserves mention for keeping the grounds, and facility, immaculate. Also deserving mention are the front desk attendants Isabel, John, and a young man with flaming red hair."
"Myself, husband, and two friends had a great experience at Club Wyndham in Jamestown RI! We were there for a friends wedding and happened to be staying in Newport for a few days prior to our check-in. We arrived to Club Wyndham prior to our scheduled check-in time and was greeted by Isabelle at the front desk. She was SO kind + beyond helpful! We thought maybe it would be way too early to get in and would be stuck with our bags but were so thankful that Isabelle was able to accommodated us so quickly! We were so thankful, not only did she get us in early but we also had an incredible water view! Throughout our stay we had great experiences with all of the staff and the location is unbeatable! An easy + short walk to Narraganset Ave and it’s a gorgeous walk along the shore. Thank you Isabelle and all the staff at Club Wyndham Jamestown for your above and beyond customer service and amazing first time in Jamestown, we’ll be back! :)"
"I’m giving the Bay Voyage 4 stars but that may be overly generous. We are staying here for a week. Our accommodations haven’t been the greatest. The first night a window drapery fell off our bedroom window and came crashing down on my foot. The front desk was painfully slow to respond. After learning it couldn’t be quickly fixed, we had to insist on another room. We moved across the hall for our first night and returned to the former room the following day after the drapes were repaired. The room across the hall was better with a balcony and water view. The room where we spent most the week faced the street. The carpet in our room and the 2nd floor hallway reeked pretty bad. Just a stale, unclean smell that’s hard to describe. We kept our windows open a lot and that helped. One day we requested fresh towels and after returning from our day out found that our request had been forgotten or ignored … had to ask again. Poor Wi-Fi. The basement level smells really badly and although the gym was well-equipped I cannot imagine working out down there breathing that stuffy air. Our 1-bedroom was decent sized and well-equipped. It could have been cleaner. The location in Jamestown is quite nice and the views from 1 side of the hotel are pretty. I think the hotel needs to replace their carpeting throughout and add ventilation and dehumidifiers. I expect better service, cleanliness, and less dis-repair from a $450 per night accommodation."
