"My wife and I found this place to be very charming. We went in the off season for a short get away and had a cozy time. I have seen other reviews talk about how it is shabby, or how they have some paint chipping away... Well the main structure was built in the 1800's... You are going to have things like that. If you find older buildings charming, you will like this place. If you need new construction and a HDTV on every wall, this is not the place for you.. Our home is build in 1880, so we found it very charming. They do have other structures in the back that were clearly built in modern times, I can not comment on those, we stayed in the main structure, I think in the off season they are not in use unless they fill up the main house."
"The Apple Tree Inn is the perfect place to stay for your Berkshire getaway. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and so welcoming. Jade, the caretaker, is very friendly and helpful. Our room was so charming, clean and comfortable. The common areas are roomy but still nice and cozy. Enjoy the continental breakfast in the unique dining area overlooking the mountains. The Inn is located only minutes away from Tanglewood, Rockwell Museum, Edith Wharton's The Mount and many other sites."
"Nighttime noise and light made sleeping very difficult in barely refurbished, slightly shabby room. Could hear someone snoring nearby. Public space somewhat nicer, but it appears the property is not being kept up. Owners aggressively pursue making money from you but do not set a welcoming tone. Setting is lovely and onsite staff were great."
"The Apple Tree Inn is a lovely place. The downsides were dead bugs in the room (I think we counted about 7 that we had to pick up and remove…) and a huge live hornet that must have been missed by the person cleaning the room. It was also a little dusty in general. The decor is very vintage so won’t be to everyone’s tastes and the wallpaper was coming off the wall in big chunks in the bathroom. The upsides were lovely, quiet and BIG room (keep in mind we stayed during off season so we were pretty much the only people there), amazing views from breakfast and the pool, lovely staff and great location. Lenox is also such a nice spot, so make sure you go and explore it while you’re there!"
"Thank you, Apple Tree, for an outstanding weekend! When we checked the weather the day before our trip, my girlfriend and I were hesitant to even make the journey, but the rain only added to the cozy, clean, quaint, and quiet energy of the inn. The lobby and bar are decorated so tastefully, and the owner even has some of his personal artwork disguised on the walls. My girlfriend really appreciated the recurring apple motif, and I admired the 19th century grand piano. In the evening while awaiting guests, the owner joined us in a game of cards and beat us handily. The expedition from Manhattan was painless, and we will certainly be back next fall for the nearby apple-picking and leaf-peeping. 5/5 would recommend"
