Old Dutch Inn 8 Broad Street, Kinderhook, NY 12106

"This is one of the most unusual additions to Mid-Hudson lodging, which is already pretty darn fascinating. From the moment we stepped out of a grey January afternoon into the lobby featuring a wall painted with gorgeous flowers and a huge crackling fireplace, we were thinking this is very comfy. The restoration of the 200 year old inn is both faithful to the original in the stairs and wood, and 21st century with keyless locks, an elevator, and smart TVs. This unique hybrid approach is embodied in high-end linens, robes, bathroom fixtures and soaps, beds and furniture -- its a spa experience, but without the nosebleed prices and the obsequious staff. Jennifer and Jake, the proprietors make you feel welcome and relaxed, maybe because they are locals from multigenerational businesses based in Kinderhook. Finally I must mention the other unique aspect, which is lots of common space that is better than pretty much anything I've seen: a game room with a drop-dead gorgeous pool table and card table (of course there's a fireplace), and an adjacent breakfast/dining room where you can eat in (with outside food since currently there is no food in the establishment), and more games to play. Like Soho House Kinderhook (without a bar, here's hoping). Across the village green is the gourmet coffee shop Morningbird, and around the corner the very popular gastropub Saissonier with sensational craft beers. Can't wait to go back."

"LOVED our stay at the Old Dutch Inn and would highly recommend! With it being newly renovated, the Inn was so clean but kept its old world charm. From the comfy bed, new bathroom with Malin & Goetz products and Frette robes, every detail was appreciated. The Inn also has a great lobby with games, chess and a billiard table. The location couldn’t be any better being in the center of Kinderhook Village. Lastly, hospitality and responsiveness via text was amazing. Thank you Jen for a wonderful stay!"
