Reviews of Sago Spa & Salon
"$30 automatic gratuity is pathetic. Thieves. Customer should determined the amount. Also the spa and massage was mediocre, my pregnant wife did not enjoy...."
"Visited Sago Spa this past weekend with two friends while staying at the resort. Overall good rating, my massage with Sue was wonderful. Very seasoned massage therapist. Friends had some inconsistencies in quality of their massages. I would recommend they consider offering some more snacks to guests and beware that they close early in my opinion. It was a Saturday, spa closed at 5pm and staff was already cleaning up/closing down when I was changing after my last treatment which ended at 4:30pm."
"So relaxing, Dianne did my mani/pedi, she took her time and was so gentle. The massage by Desire was excellent, well worth the drive from NJ. Thank you ladies for your five star service from the front desk to the back, very professional."
"Good but not great. The spa area was beautiful. High quality products (Moroccan Oil) for hair. But no lotion for after showering. The robes have seem better days, not trash but could use a refresher. The relaxation room was a bit small, the lights a bit bright, and the bird chirping music a bit loud. The sauna was open so that was nice but not the steam room (unsure why). The showers and restrooms were clean but could use a good power wash. The 50 min massage was ok. I’m glad I didn’t splurge for 80 mins. The massage therapist at time felt like she was lathering me with lotion instead of massaging. She did a solid job though. The lights in the treatment room should’ve been darker, she said if she turned them lower they would blink. I was at the hotel for a stay and was the first appointment and practically had the whole space to myself for over an hour after the massage, that was nice. I stayed at the hotel and decided to get a massage, I wouldn’t come back just for the massage though."
"I would rate my overall experience at this facility as good, but not amazing. The spa facilities themselves are clean, if a bit dated (ceramic tile, peeling wallpaper). I found it lovely that they offer Moroccan Oil products for use in the locker room if you shower and need to do your hair. The robes were a bit thin for my liking; I felt exposed without a bra but I am large-chested. The relaxation room is on the smaller side and has an odd layout of a grouping of four large chairs in a circle formation and then a bench with oversized pillows along the wall. With more than two or three people in there, it feels crowded quickly. They did offer snacks, tea and cool bottled water. My facial was nice and my skin needed it. My esthetician was young and she seemed to be new to the business, as she was somewhat timid and seemed inexperienced with her bedside manner. She didn't really discuss anything about my skin texture or hydration with me - it seemed like she was going through the motions because she hasn't earned enough experienced yet to make adjustments on the fly. I appreciated that she allowed me to rest and zone out. She was kind enough to avoid putting steam directly on my eyelash extensions, which I appreciated, and her touch was incredibly gentle. She gave an excellent face, arm and hand massage. My massage was really the experience that left me somewhat disappointed. My massage therapist was at least 10 minutes late retrieving me from the relaxation room, whereas my friend was taken for her massage 15 minutes early. Additionally, the room she was utilizing was clearly a couples' massage room - which is fine, use the space you have - but the second bed was unmade with its power cord and a random bolster strewn across the top, which didn't present a great first impression. Further, the room had a long back counter for hot stones, oils, etc. but there was a personal backpack and laptop splayed out across one half of the counter, which didn't create a spa-like atmosphere and I found it to be sloppy and uninviting. We had a very brief, maybe 15 seconds or less, conversation about what she planned to focus on for my massage and then she left the room so I could undress. I laid face-down on the table for another 5-10 minutes while I waited for her to return. At this point, my massage was roughly 20 minutes behind schedule. When she returned, she didn't knock before entering - presumably because she had been gone so long she assumed there was no way I wasn't ready. The quality of the massage was fine, I guess. She could've used more oil or lotion and I did notice that she had long nails. She didn't scratch me and it was clear she was used to massaging with longer nails but I felt like it prevented her from really being able to use her hands/fingers fully. The massage table was automatic, so she was able to adjust my head and foot height, but the lower portion of the table was wobbly so when she bumped the end of the table (it happens!) the entire table jolted. If I had been asleep it would've been a startling awakening. The last note is that our appointments were at 1:45 and 3:30pm on a Saturday. Apparently, the steam/sauna and relaxation room close at 4pm, even if there are still clients receiving services. My friend was waiting for me in the relaxation room after her massage and a staff member literally turned the lights out as she sat there. To return post-service to my friend sitting in the dark and half the locker room dark was very weird and has never happened to me at any of the spas I've ever been to. All in all, it was a nice day but I wasn't blown away by the experience. I live about 45 minutes away from this facility but I am not compelled to return for the spa itself; for the prices, ($150 for a 50 minute massage and $140 for a facial) I don't feel like my experience was worth the money."
