"Refinanced my commercial mortgage with Bank of Elmer with Michael Penk to get my interest rate down. Since I was already paying an early payoff fee to my old bank, my wife and I specifically asked Mike at closing if there would be an early payoff fee associated with this mortgage if we were to refi again or sell the property. He said “no”. Fast forward a year and a half and I agree to sell the property. The title company needed me to request a payoff letter from Bank of Elmer. 2 hours before closing, I finally receive the payoff letter. It includes an over $10k early payoff fee! I call Michael to ask what this is about and his claim is that if I were to have made additional principal payments and paid it off early or if the buyers of my property had received financing through him this fee would have been waived, but that I was out of luck. Totally flabbergasted, I contact my attorney and he tells me to continue with closing and deal with this after the fact to avoid a breach of contract suit. My attorney also said he knew the president of the bank and would ask him about it and get a copy of my promissory note. Of course, the fee is in the contract that I didn’t read because I specifically asked Michael Penk about a possible fee and was told there would be none. I call Michael Penk again a week later and he has the audacity to tell me that he wasn’t willing to work with me at all on this issue because he was “pissed off” that someone went over his head and asked about this fee. Unprofessional service and I’m out over ten thousand dollars for a lie told to my wife’s and my face. Very disappointing."
"Had a fraudulent $200 charge on my account. Reported it to the fraud prevention within an hour of it showing up on my account through the app. I wanted them to stop the payment from coming out, so I reported my card as missing IMMEDIATELY that night upon finding the fraudulent charge. I called the bank in the morning to tell them about the charge and that my card was shut off and to NOT pay that PENDING charge and they STILL paid it later that day sending my account in a spiral! They said it will take 7-10 days for them to investigate and get my money back (maybe) I have to come in and fill out paperwork. Isn’t shutting the card off.. reporting a fraudulent charge… and calling the bank enough??? This bank has gone down in the past few years! Worse bank ever! DON’T BANK HERE!"

"They cancelled my debit card because of two fraudulent charges, with no warning or notification to me. I go there and inform them of the fraudulent charges. I'm told it takes two to three days to review the charges, the ones they cancelled my card for in the first place. One of the charges was on hold for two days after I told them it wasn't my charge. The third day they put the charge through and deducted it from my account anyway. I called back and now I'm told it takes seven to ten days. Other banks put your stolen money back in 24hrs. Other banks give you a new card on the spot."
