"My experience in shipping a grandfather clock across the US with TSI was favorable. Total time from AZ to PA was a little over a month (that included the holiday season) and I received e-mails giving me status reports of its progress. I received two calls in advance (one to set up a time for delivery and another to confirm the day prior) and the gentlemen who delivered it were considerate and careful. The service is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. As for the less favorable reviews, the shipping process is always fraught with peril and only as strong as its weakest link."
"If I could give zero stars, I would. I am livid. I was told by the TSI representative that they move pianos all the time and she also told me she has "no horror stories" of damages to pianos. Well that turned out to be false. My piano was "delivered" by a man in one truck. He did not have help. He literally had to find a random man in a Walgreens parking lot to help him. Neither of them were piano movers. For some inexplicable reason, they also ripped the legs off from under the keyboard of my piano, bending the nails and ripping wood off in the process. They also made a dent in the wood and a chip elsewhere. They couldn't even get the piano inside my home, so they just left it in my garage. I have before and after photos of my piano so I know the damages incurred were NOT damages that existed before it was moved. I hired some local piano movers and they were appalled at the damages done, and confirmed to me that there was no reason why the legs were removed. I now have to hire someone to fix the damages done by TSI/the companies they subcontracted out to. If you are moving something of value, do NOT use TSI. High cost, false promises. I want my money back."
"I used TSI to move 15 boxes from Jersey City to San Diego and was super impressed by their costumer service, quality of care with my moving boxes, and price. I called several moving companies prior to reaching out to TSI and was met with incredibly high rates and salespeople accustomed to using scare tactics to lock you into dropping a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure a pick up. I worked with Max Huber at TSI for my move and was so impressed by his friendliness, honesty, and frequent communication. By the time I was ready to book a pickup, I felt well versed in TSI’s policies and procedures. I’m hoping to stay rooted in San Diego, but if I ever need to move back east, I would 100% book again with TSI."
"overall I feel that I got great service from TSI. I will say the initial representative I exchanged correspondence with seemed quite busy, and tended to give me canned responses regarding my requests for clarification on how insurance worked. I revised and emailed my cardholder release agreement several times in an attempt to prompt her to review it and let me know what exactly I needed to do/what the calculation for insurance needed to be. but I don't hold that against her, customer service is a rough gig and I'm sure the reps at TSI field lots of inanity from prospective customers on a daily basis. I thought the pricing for my shipment was incredibly competitive overall - far and away the cheapest out of the 4 companies I contacted for my move. the time frames provided for pickup & delivery were generally accurate, and although I would have appreciated having the ability to track my shipment, I felt that the few updates I did get with regards to it were informative and timely. to be fair, I probably could have included a Tile or something in one of my boxes had the thought occurred to me to do so beforehand. I would have preferred to pay half the cost upfront and the remainder upon delivery - was frankly quite nerve-wracking to pay a few grand to have my apartment gutted with no real guarantee that I'd ever see my things again. but the movers who packed my furniture were upfront about the possibility of any damage (though they still wrapped everything very carefully!) and were very professional and competent overall, and even advised me not to tape up some of the drawers on a desk I was shipping as they felt it was unnecessary and would likely accomplish little more than leave a bit of adhesive residue. the movers who delivered my items were also very professional and communicative, and I wish I had thought to tip them upon delivery - they were super friendly and personable and took care when moving everything into my new living space. I moved out of my studio from one coast to the other, and with a number of sentimental breakables & electronics. I was impressed to find that virtually everything arrived unscathed, there was no water/weather damage on anything at all, and only two items broke in the shipment (which were the result of my own poor packing). overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend TSI to anyone else looking to make a small move across the country!"
"DO NOT HIRE TSI. TSI was hired to crate up and move two grandfather clocks. On the receiving end the clocks had not been crated and were severely damaged. TSI turfed me off to the sub contractor Plycon, who’s response was I should have brought more insurance and all furniture gets damaged. After several emails and calls TSI confirmed that the clocks had never been appropriately protected and refunded the fee for crating the clocks. It took several months of looking to find a craftsman even willing to give me an estimate on repairing the clock. I sent the repair estimate to TSI but they have yet to respond. TSI neglected to protect my property and now I'm left with a hefty repair bill for my Howard Miller clock."
