"Schagrin installed a new Mendota fireplace in our new addition. We ended up needing a flame adjustment after install. Although heavily booked they fit us into the schedule to correct this issue. It is an absolutely gorgeous unit. They also ran a propane line to the gas grill on our deck. The guys were professional and did a great job on our project. Thanks to Ryan, Justin, Eric and Jeremy!"
"The most expensive propane tank company in the neighborhood as gas as I know while provide the poorest service. Not just my experience, all of my neighbors told me so. They increased the price by 50% compared with last year without telling us. come with no notice even when out tank is still 60% full and charged us the highest price they possibly can. I tried to call and cancel their service but their customer service didn’t care at all. Told me to wait for her transferring me to another person and never had any one picked up the phone. Honest suggestion is try to be away from this company as much as you can. I am still figuring out how to get out. They are like snakes."
"Heard from multiple neighbors that Schagrin was the worst. They could not offer competitive prices, and would not sell me the tank, and charge me over $1000 to remove their tank (That was already 24 years old) so that I could install another one. Decided not to sign with them when we bought the house, previous owners had to pay over $1000 to have tank removed. Took Schagrin three weeks to get around to it, luckily another provider was kind enough to offer temporary tanks at no charge."
"My wife and four kids moved into my new house on a Friday. The following Monday they sent someone threatening to shut my gas off if I didn’t sign the contract for their propane service saying they’ve been trying to contact me. If that wasn’t bad enough I had to buy a new tank and had to schedule it with them and my new provider to remove their tank from the 90s that the removal company said would get scrapped, Schagrin came out and stole the 500 gallons of propane left in my old tank days before the switch while I was at work. I grew up in Middletown and would have gladly used them if their business practices were ethical. I will never forget the way they treated my family and let everyone from Middletown to Pennsylvania know what a terrible business this company runs. Horrible company, hope they enjoy losing customer after customer until they go out of business with policy’s like they have."
"We bought a house and moved in. A tag on the door sated that we need us to call this company, the lady on the phone (Susan) said that the gas tank is theirs and either they need it back or we have to sign a contract with them. Well, we were never told that the tank was rented by the previous owner so I asked them to give me sometime to talk to my realtor. The realtor told me not to worry about it because nothing in the contract stated that the tank was rented. By the way, the tank was not marked with their company's name. About a week later they left a voice mail and said they are going to pick up the tank because they think they gave me enough time. I called them and argued. In my opinion, you can just tell someone the tank is yours without any prove. They said they would email me the contract they had with the previous owner so I can be sure it's theirs, and I provided them with my Email, and then I went on search for other gas companies ( I never received their email). After only couple of days, I found another company and ready for Schagrin to remove their tank. The same day after the new gas company set up everything for us, Schagrin Gas somehow came in the middle of the night and took the tank without even leave a note behind. I was horrified to find out in the morning that the tank is gone thinking someone else might have took it! I am very glad that I didn't choose to stay with this company because it is obviously running by bunch of nasty people. What if I didn't call anyone? They are going to take the tank and leave me nothing! Oh they are $4.89 a gallon and $80 per year for rental of the tank. There are also a $110 removal fee at the end. They also obviously give you a tank that is about 70 years old and leaks! I can smell gas when I get closer to the tank. They obviously do not maintain their tank either. I can't and I will never use such company, I recommend nobody use this company either. We are only use the tank for cooking, can you imagine if we use it for heating as well? This is December and they are willing to freeze you and your family to death because they want their tank back. Again, there is no mark on the tank that it belongs to them and until today I have never received their email. Kauffman Gas is a much better choice after all!"
