"This place is ridiculous! You constantly get a voice-mail. I can't get in contact with my loved one.. it's almost 2 weeks... how can I support him. Drop off anything he needs. Like nobody heard from I'm worried sick. And the facility don't help you with nothing!! They are rude if you do by chance get a hold of anyone. Don't send loved ones here!!! I'm reading horrible stuff on the reviews like at this point I'm praying he'sthere and alive"
"Bowling Green Brandywine and The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) saved my life! Phil Carbo was my initial Counselor on Campus and he was amazing as a Counselor And a friend! I spent 19 days on campus and after that was transferred to the PHP program. I became the house manager there. I was a client there for 29 days, so 48 days in all. Counselor Kendra Childs, partial houses clinical supervisor Andrew MeadowCroft, partial and bowling Green's aftercare specialist Heather Lawhorn, and partial programs director Denise Derr are all top notch counselors, program directors, and human beings! Heather was my aftercare counselor. After thinking she wasn't able to get something done for me, Heather Was in tears on her way home my last night there. The fact that she thought she couldn't get something accomplished for me had her in tears. That is somebody who really cares about her job. Her clients and helping people are Heather's only two concerns! That story alone says a lot about the partial program and the bowling Green Brandywine treatment facility and staff! The place was five STAR in my opinion and trust me, I've been around the block. I've been the many programs and It was the best of them all. Probably better than all of them put together TBH! Heather and Kendra already had it done! I was so stressed out December 12th, the night before My tentative discharge date of 12/13/2023 I arrived the next morning and all my worries were already taking care of!! Kendra and Heather were already in contact with Easy Does It, the place I'm currently at now. Kendra, as I told you just a few days ago, I don't know what I would have done without you as well! Denise Derr, the program director and the big boss of partial house even personally came to pick me up to make sure that I made it to my transitional house on time on the date of my discharge!! I've never been anywhere that a director goes out of their way to hand deliver you to your transportation driver! She and I struck up such a good conversation about life recovery and bowling Green! She cared that much! Generally speaking human beings don't care. In my opinion, if it wasn't for these people, I'd probably be back in jail!! All previously mentioned BOWLING Green employees went out of their way to make sure that my needs were met and that I was insured a lifetime of sobriety and a happy future for myself and my family! God bless all you guys and I love each and everyone of you! I almost forgot I left out. Tom, Dominique, Amber, Greg and Sarah. They are all amazing people that are techs at the partial program and also all went out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly. The only negative thing that happened there was I had two pairs of sweatpants stolen out of the dryer on Halloween night. Michelle McIver, bowling Green's CEO personally took down my address and is sending me two replacement pairs. One was a pair of Michael Jordan sweatpants and the other was a pair of Kobe Bryant Nike sweatpants, a gift from my loving Mother! For Michelle to take that into account and ensure that she sends me something to replace them is very reassuring, it also speaks a lot about Bowling Green. The CEO is amazing, every counselor I came in contact with was amazing, and from the nurses to the techs even to Howard the maintenance guy....they are all caring, kind individuals! So from the top of the chain to the bottom, everybody at Bowling Green is a class act. You really do get out What you put in to life on this planet! Bowling Green and it's staff is/was a prime example of that! I put in positivity and good vibes and that is what I received in return, top notch treatment! I don't know how else to say thank you but I will try to pass it on to the next person and maybe who knows one day I will be working there with you guys! Blessings Tyler M. Eberly"
"My experience at bowling green was far from wonderful. I was less than impressed with my counselor Laura. She met with me when I was first assigned to her for maybe five to ten minutes to tell he the “ruled” of bowling green and asked a few questions . That was literally the only one on one time I had with her my entire stay. She was supposed to meet with me once a week one in ones Damon who I believe is a supervisor there was helpful once I was able to speak with him about my history with addiction and lack of treatment and direction from Laura . He has been sober for many years and does want to help others who are suffering. He did lectures mostly on weekends and I found them to be informative and on point. Overall the staff at bowling green is less than average and most appear to be there for a paycheck. The techs see overwhelmed because they are short staff and the rehab holds over 100 patients. Definitely constant drama there even when you try to avoid it you can’t. One of the supervisors ran a female group on the weekend and it literally was about the drama from the female side . Please let me know how I am going to use that in my recovery . There were drugs being sold there ar least 4 times I know of during my stay . I will say when it comes out Bowling Green does discharge the people who are not there for the right reasons Honestly if I didn’t have Heather as my case manager I most likely would have left . I saw her in my first week and she understood my needs and fears. She took time to listen to me ask questions and just genuinely cared that was apparent immediately. She set up two interviews with recovery houses for me that she knew and it wasn’t just from word of mouth which was reassuring and gave me confidence in her and recommendations. I had a problem with my clothing missing When it was dropped off . I told Laura about it who did nothing and that was her job . When I mentioned it to Heather she said wait sent out email made a few phone calls and found my clothing which she took the time to personally go see so I wouldn’t unfocused abd upset unnecessarily anymore . This was and is not in Heather job description that didn’t matter to her because she sincerely cares about each abd everyone of clients and treats us with respect and kindness . As opposed to some of the other staff whom it was clearly apparent look down on addicts. I can say with certainty that if it was not for my experience with Heather I am not certain I would have stayed at Bowling Green . She tells you in so many words her door is always open and she isn’t just delivering lip service Bowling Green has a gift by having her work there . I am very grateful for Heather and my time and experience with her. Would I recommend BG for a rehab ? It was a good place for me to go and have time away from my drug of choice . As long as your expectations are low you will not be disappointed. And maje sure you ask for Heather as your case manager . It doesn’t mean you will be assigned to her . She definitely is the diamond of BG. Without her it wouldn’t even be worth going there to have time away from my drug of choice . It’s sad because I believe BG had potential just need to fix some issues mentioned and some not even worth mentioning."
"I was there in July. I can't believe anyone who goes there really gets anything out of it. Most counselors couldn't care less about us! I never was able to get any calls out. Had my clothes when I got there but had to wait 4 days and raise hell before someone finally got them for me. It's a joke there. There aren't enough staff there to handle the clients and the few who actually cared about us were running ragged... Heather L, Young Dan and The lady Denise rocked! Especially Heather. I went to PHP house after the campus and she was my Rock and a savior. The Bowling Green Campus is just a place to rest up for the next run. It used to have a Great reputation but It sucks now! Go somewhere else to clean up because Heather and the 2 others can only help so many!"
"I recently sought out help for my substance abuse and chose BGBW because it was far from home (across the state). What a mistake! Detox is never a pleasant experience however, it took 4 days to get my belongings (and that was only because I hounded the staff). No snacks offered except of course vending machines. If you can eat you must go to the cafeteria. Detox should be hospital level care. The food is awful. I couldn't eat and was told to put in a 'sick call'. It took 9 more days to see a dietitian. Once in rehab I had to 'find' my counselor who is so overworked. She didn't have time to see me one on one. She basically threw me some packets to work on. There was no clinical work whatsoever! I never received a treatment plan or had a chance to discuss my issues. During morning group a counselor, Miss J. stated, " You people are here for free, eat 3 meals a day for free." and continued her rant about how ungrateful some of the clients are about the donations that she has brought in. " I have some fur-lined coats that I'm going to hold off bringing in". When I couldn't stand it any longer and wanted to leave. I was told I had to make an appointment to return within 72 hours and get my confiscated luggage and phone. I live in Pittsburgh. This place is outside of Philadelphia! But, because my desire to get clean far outweighs the absolutely horrible conditions of BGBW. I chose to stick it out. Drugs were on campus, men and women were more then just hanging out. I get it, people are starting to feel again however, if there isn't enough staff to care for the clients you do have STOP BRINGING IN MORE!!!! They had people sleeping on airmattress'. I'm older and by God's grace have some sense and patience but the younger people (even some older), don't have that patience. I will give credit where credit is due. A case manager Heather, did do her job and did in a caring, compassionate and professional manner. She made my stay bare able. So, if you want to watch people 'nodding off', watch movies all day, advocate for yourself, listen to techs and counselors insult you and have nurses ignore you. This is the place for you. Otherwise, DONT GO TO BOWLING GREEN BRANDYWINE. My insurance Co will get a copy of this review."
