"Good Morning, I was given this email to file a complaint for Vernon Economy oil. Was there yesterday February 4th for a standard oil change. When I was in the waiting room, I heard the unmistakably awful sound of an impact gun in the hands of a complete amatuer. I asked the gentleman at the front window what was the guy doing under my truck with an impact gun? Oh, he's just removing a skid plate. I asked him to please stop and do it correctly, but they did not. He said the bolts are TOO TIGHT!! Although the same people did my last oil change so I'm assuming they installed it with an impact and obviously over-tightened the bolts. Anyways, I left once completed and went home. Crawled under my truck to clean all the spilled oil from my undercarriage (normal at home task after every oil change with Economy) and found that one of the bolts was snapped off and replaced with a loose zip tye..... see attached photo. REALLY?? This is the work of an amatuer for sure, a broken bolt, nothing said to me about it and the kicker is an improperly installed zip tye leaving my heavy steel skid plate flapping in the breeze. I was not happy to say the least. I went back to Economy to get this fixed. I was told to get in line and they will see what they can do. Unacceptable yet again. After some back and forth with the gentleman who "runs" the place, I finally got my truck on the lift. After an hour of watching the guy struggle with the broken bolt, I offered my expertise as a mechanic myself on the proper way to extract a broken bolt, it seemed to fall on deaf ears. After another half hour, my truck was off the lift... Long story short, I wasted my afternoon arguing with a clueless, rude and unprofessional group of people at Vernon Economy Oil. And by the way, the broken bolt never got removed, they left it in there and simply screwed in a self tapping screw next to it and called it a day. Are you kidding me? This place is a joke! Needless to say, I will not be going back there. Hoping you can make this right somehow with me and also get these Vernon guys some training on people skills and some simple, basic mechanic skills before they can be called "technicians". Thank You, Tim Parzych image1.jpeg"
"Took my car in for a simple oil change. They removed the dirty cabin air filter covered in leaves and asked to change it for 30$ I said I would do it myself. They took the debris covered filter and simply put it back dumping much of the debris into my air system.. They then lied to me and said they blew it out. When I returned home I found all this debris in my system and they definitely lied to me.. now I hear all this leaf noise. NEVER AGAIN WOULD I TRUST THESE LIARS. Did more damage…"
"This was my first time at an Economy Oil Change and I will never go back! The associate came in to the waiting area and showed me a chart and told me that I had to get either the Synthetic Oil or Premium Synthetic Oil Change (the two most expensive oil changes). I questioned why I had to have synthetic since I have never put synthetic oil in this car before. His response was that "because this is your first time here, this is what you have to get". I again questioned why, since it being my first time there should have had no relevance on them pushing me to pay for a unneeded and higher cost oil change. His response was that his "manager said that is what you have to get when it's your first time here". When I was checking out, I told the associate who was cashing me out that I will never be back and that I will tell others not to go there because of this. She then asked me what year the car was. When I told her it was a 2017 she said that that was the reason I had to have the synthetic oil because anything over a 2012 had to have it. So, which is it? I have to have synthetic because it was my first time there or because the car was a 2017? My owner's manual clearly does not say that that the oil has to be synthetic. When I got into my car, the knobs that are enclosing the filters were sitting on my dashboard. If I wasn't already so irritated with how dishonest they were and the way they conducted business in this location, I would have gone back in there to have them fix it. My opinion is that this is one big scam! This was far from "economy" when you are scamming people to upgrade to a product that is not needed not required based on the manufacturer of the vehicle."
"Quick and easy in and out. They’ll tell you if things need replacing (filters, wipers, etc) but don’t force anything on you. Plus they also do emissions testing which is nice. If you need an oil change quickly this is my go to spot."
"I have been a customer of Economy Oil Change Vernon CT for years since moving to CT in 2006. I have had all my cars serviced with oil changes along with other services of brakes and emissions testing. I did recently have an issue with my Honda Civic with an oil leak that needed repair. It was the first issue I have had at Economy. I had every oil change from the time I purchased the Honda in May 2022 used car taking it to Economy in Vernon CT so all my receipts and records were on file. I worked with the staff and technicians that were able to get my car to local shop for the repair as it needed new oil pan to fix the issue. It was inconvenient to be without a car but, they took care of me and the cost of the repair in good faith. Unfortunately I discovered after driving the car for a week noise around the drive belt. After looking into the issue found AC compressor was loose held by one bolt that broke and other was free on bumper cover. After about 1hour I was able to get the bolt & compressor installed properly in working without any additional noise from drive belt. I was lucky I was able to drive the car at all. I’m lowering the rating as the repair cause other issues and no info of this provided to me the customer. I am now reconsidering being a customer now with the multiple cars I take for service their. Along with any recommendations to friends and family."
