Reviews of Fort Billingsport
"It's great that they preserved this little plot of land with ties to 1777 when it was actually used to patrol and control the river traffic. There's a very respectable children's play area, well maintained and plenty of benches spread through the park just to be able to locally be able to go somewhere quiet and sit, listen to the water, the ships fog horns like I heard today or just to decompress....etc. The Park sits next to the refinery's old gigantic oil tanks. The other side of the park is the land owned by Sunoco lp. There's a flag with their name on it as you exit the park. When I'm looking at the water, I don't even notice or care that the old refinery is next to Me."
"It's a great place to see the sunset. My wife and I would go there just for that. Down side is they did away with the tennis courts and going on the beach or walking on the wall since the refinery bought that area and fenced it off. It does have a great play ground since they demolished the other for a new water tower"
"Very small park with an important American Revolution history tied to it. Not much to do there."
"Just sad. This place has a great playground and swings. Unfortunately it is stuck between two refineries and the smell is horrendous. For the safety of your kids i would not bring them here. This place is also historic which would be a bonus if everything else was normal."
"Fort Billingsport is a park along the Delaware River that is quite unknown unless you live in Paulsboro. Once the site of a American Revolution Fort & Historically the first government land ever purchased, there is not much indication of its past except for few foot markers. Tucked between 2 oil refineries the park offers views of the river & opportunities for nice picnic."
