Reviews of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center
"When a specialist refers you to their local hospital for further evaluation you'd expect them to be apart of your care. No communication between other specialists and doctors at all. They only treat "one problem at a time". So if you are pediatric and have multiple conditions on your medical history, they will completely disregard all of that. If you take medication to control pain, they take that away and offer Tylenol. Then say "you can refuse that but we won't give you anything stronger" like you're some sort of drug seeker. Even if you already have it prescribed. I said I cannot eat, drink, or take medications due to my stomach issues. Yet they tell me to push fluids and do a bowel clean out. How am I supposed to when I can't keep anything down?!? They don't care if you're dehydrated or malnourished if you're chronically ill. I had a nurse on the pediatric floor cursing at the IV pump. How is that acceptable behavior? This is the most gaslighting, horrible hospital I ever been to next to CHOP. If you need a sooner follow-up appointment with pediatric GI, apparently you don't stand a chance. The day I turn 18, my care will definitely transfer far from here."
"I wish I could give ZERO stars ! HA! Where do I start … let’s start by explaining that my sister in law was seen here multiple time for a tumor in which they knew they were going to be unable to operate !!!!! Why wouldn’t you just start with chemo and radiation knowing the size of the tumor ! WHO LET YOU GRADUATE, HOW DO YOU HAVE YOUR LICENSE TO PRACTICE and aren’t doing your job correctly. My father went through the same issue with a tumor in NYC and when I say the oncologist did everything in matters of seconds …. The doctors in NYC are 1000 times better than the ones in the hospital. Take better care, have better knowledge and know the proper steps to take ensure their patient have the best outcome. Tumors grow and you waited more than a month to see my sister in law. MORE THAN A DAMN MONTH to not even be able to operate on her. This is something you’re suppose to take care of as quickly as possible especially if it’s by the liver. Let her know the stage of the tumor, inform her with the proper knowledge, give the best medication for the pain that comes with having a tumor. I am highly disappointed !"
"I was insulted by one of the female doctors in the gynecology department. I don't remember her name, but she was authoritative. She complained about me making her wait for a long time, even though I arrived on time and tried to fill in the survey beforehand. They offered to provide me with a remote translator, but the doctor let the translator translate how I was hindering her work. If I hadn't asked the translator to wait for a second, I would have heard her scolding me in two languages. Additionally, she didn't look at me during the consultation and checkup; she only talked with the translator, who was not present and only communicating through a tablet. It was obviously humiliating and unpleasant. The doctor seemed unaware of what was going on and didn't appear to care if it wasn't related to a woman's disease. Fortunately, I was able to meet another doctor who gave me a comprehensive view of my problem, and I finally started to get better in just one month, after suffering from excruciating pain for the past one year and 5 months. I hope I never have to encounter this doctor again in my life."
"My daughter went to the ER with pain in her side and difficulty breathing. She was eventually diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism. She was at the hospital for three days. The nursing care was very poor. Communication was nonexistent with both nurses and doctors. Very unimpressive. I would not recommend this hospital."
"How about you save the money buying more clinics and buildings etc and put it into medical imaging? How are you going to have only 1 MRI machine with the size of the hospital you have? We have been waiting over 7 hours in your emergency department, in your overflow tank for 6 hours waiting to get an MRI. I love your hospital. This is my first bad experience. Please do better! -Update- after complaining and detailing frustration I was informed of the heavy appointment load for imaging and critical cases at that time. Raising the stars to a 4 since there still needs review of supply and demand of imaging. Still the best hospital in the area hands down."
