Reviews of Norwood Elementary School
"I couldn’t say enough good things. Never had an issue with Mr. Mills(principal) or Ms. Cubito (vice principal). I am honored my child has a Norwood education."
"Great School when my husband and I were looking to purchase our home in the Interboro School District I saught out Norwood School, and was not disappointed with the experience my daughters had while they were in school. The teachers and staff make a difference in the lives of the students in this school."
"Elementary teachers, fine. Middle school teachers, great. The school would be a 7 if it was just that but now it's closer to a 1. I have made this conclusion from what I have heard the students say and what my own kid has said to me. The principal does not know what he's doing. He can say the f word aloud and refer to pee as p*ss? The vice principal is fine. I have heard great things from the 8th grade Spanish teacher however the 6th and 7th grade Spanish teacher needs to be replaced. He gives more detentions than words in Spanish. He doesn't care about teaching he cares about discipline. He gives you a detention for saying thanks to someone for doing something for them when you're supposed to be silent. The principal also makes up lies about how the students are in last place in the pssa's. There's no problem with Tinicum but usually they're last, and the principal puts the blame on the students and doesn't think for a second that some of the teachers are to blame. This school is bad and should inspect the teachers and the principal often. If the people I listed here were replaced, I think this school would run much better for the students. Re I also have a problem with the awards. From what I've seen, there were students in years past that have gotten plaques for outstanding achievement in a subject. I attended the assembly last year and saw that the children received certificates for the same award. The education is there but without any motivation the students will spend their lives avoiding education because there's no reward for being a good student. I feel that the school should put their money into motivating the students to strive them to be the best in their grade, but instead that money is used to put on plays for the students that do not teach anything. I'm happy there has been a change in which the students get rewarded a trip for good behavior, but not their grades. Education is number 1 priority and then the fun stuff. The school lacks in both. If you see the club selection there is only fit, art, baking, and environmental club plus student council. I feel that if there isn't any change, then the kids will learn to hate school and this school which is what my kid says to me every day. This isn't the type of environment my child should be in. I am thinking of moving my child to a school that can be run properly, have a good education with motivation, and have fun activities. Instead the only motivation the students get is yelling from their principal telling them their pssa scores are the worst and that their parents houses will be worth less instead of kindly encouraging them to strive to be the best."
"I left in third grade so......... yeah"
"This school is in need of restructuring from top to bottom. First the principal has no idea what he is doing. The teachers there need a new job. They change the rules without notice and they are always looking for ways to get your kids in trouble even when they have done nothing. The school and staff here are looking out for them selves first and your children last. I wish I could send my kids to a Charter school. Don't send your kids here if you can find another school."
