Reviews of First State National Historical Park
"As usual the National Park Service runs a great location. The site is in the middle of historic New Castle and it’s surrounded by many historic buildings. The area is a great place to stroll around and learn the history of New Castle. Be sure to walk to the battery, the waterfront is beautiful."
"Great stop. We toured two buildings, the building that was eventually built to house the two assemblies and a smaller house. Very knowledgeable gentleman in the assembly building. Gave a very interesting presentation then turned us over to another guide who gave us a tour of the upper floor. At the smaller building, a young lady in clothing for the time gave a detailed talk about the challenges of the time; making clothes, laundry, etc. Good stop and definitely worth a second visit."
"We had a great time here touring the area. We had lunch in the tavern across the street down a block towards the water. Loved the cobblestone road. We are so thrilled to have stopped here on our journey. Highly recommend for history lovers. Got our stamp in the national park book. Get there early and check days/hours to get your stamp."
"What a lovely little gem of a town next to the beautiful Delaware River. If you're a history nerd like me, you'll love it. If not, you'll still love it. William Penn landed here in the 1600's, a signer of the Declaration and the Constitution lived and died here. It's a beautiful, quaint, little historic river side town."
"It's an honor to finally have this wonderfully historic section of my home state inducted into National Park status. I absolutely love this place. The sunsets here are stunning! There's so much rich history here. you could spend days and days wandering the streets learning about all of the historic figures that have stayed here in the past. I highly recommend spending the day here, wandering around this beautiful park"
