Reviews of ShopRite of Glassboro
"Was WRONGLY and rudely accused of shoplifting due to a poorly placed camera…do better ShopRite and get someone who has brain cells to fix your security…very disappointed, you ruined my day *UPDATE* after being told by one member of ShopRite cost customer service that it is against policy to accuse a shopper of shoplifting without 100% certainty that product was placed in pockets. However, when the store manager called and I explained to him my experience he un empathetic, and was covering for the security guards mistake. He also claimed that the security guard couldn’t see the product I picked up off the shelf anymore however I saw the footage myself I’m not stupid, you can CLEARLY see in my hand, but what you couldn’t see was my wallet being placed in my pocket due to the camera being blocked by a top of the isle. The way the security guard approached me as I was leaving he never clarified he was an employee of ShopRite he simply said “I need to speak with you” and as a young female girl at night I felt unsafe, and when voicing this concern with the manager he simply lied and sided with the security guard. ShopRite does not have your best interests in mind they simply do not care about making their customers feel comfortable. Get your cameras moved to more visible locations and follow the store policy when accusing customers of shoplifting."
"At work, we bought cakes here for every members birthday. We got the same thing every time and they were great. Last year they started going down hill with their decorations and overall cake. A few months ago, we ordered a cake and when we went to pick it up, it had been given to someone else. 45 minutes later, we got a new cake; however, it was gross and partly frozen. We were not offered to discount or anything for the inconvenience. The other day, I was there again and I was scanning my items, and a man came up to me, took my lunch out of the cart, after I scanned it, put it back up to rescan and then changed something on the screen. Turns out I didn't have the container fully centered on the scale. None of which he explained but mumbled. He then proceeded to stare at me and made me feel very uncomfortable while I rang up the rest of my items. I was frazzled and as I go to leave he grabs my cart and asks if i paid for the birthday candles in my cart. I said I didn't know. He took my reciept and started doing something on the screen again. At this point I explained that I was on my lunch break and felt like a complete idiot so told him I would skip them. I left and he kept my reciept. The second issue on this day was the food i bought for lunch at the wockery was completely inedible. It was dry, hard and just gross. I called and left a message for the managers on both occasions and never got a call back."
"The store is much nicer, cleaner, and more organized now and the employees are overall friendly and helpful. The only area that could definitely use some work is the deli station. They have messed up so many orders of mine and others around me whenever I go there. They’re also pretty rude and only one guy working there was nice."
"The store is mostly great. I love the ShopRite from home team. However, today I had a bad experience at self checkout. I was scanning my items, and a man came up to me with a rude demeanor. He said “wait”, in a short dismissive tone, then changed something on the screen. Turns out that I had selected regular bananas instead of organic, I honestly didn’t know I had grabbed organic bananas, but that wasn’t a big deal, although he could have been less accusatory and more delicate with his approach. However, the part that really bothered was when he went back to his coworkers and started talking about me, then they all proceeded to exchange stories about other customers that try to steal, right in front of me. This makes for an extremely uncomfortable shopping experience. What gets me even more is, why am I scanning my own groceries, and being accused of stealing, while 4-5 employees stand around NOT operating a register. They are the ones trained to know the difference between a regular banana and an organic one, not me."
"I am giving 3 stars because while the store itself is clean and well laid out, some of the employees have made me feel uncomfortable while using self check out. They stand relatively close to you and look over your shoulder. I understand that theft in self checkout in all stores is an issue, but there has to be a more considerate way of monitoring. For example, I don’t know the employee’s name but there was a tall, heavy set, dirty blonde man today who was monitoring my checking out as if he was waiting for me to steal or something. It was incredibly uncomfortable. If you don’t trust us to self checkout then add more lanes. I love self checkout but not when I’m being watched in anticipation that I’m going to steal something. You can’t assume everyone will attempt to steal. It makes for a less than desirable shopping experience."
