"Many nice walking trails, a boardwalk trail over the marshes and a trail along the water. Various trail lengths and many birds sightings. Spring, fall, and winter best walking times to avoid mosquitoes, love Prime Hook."
"Nice place. Most birds were in their hidey holes, but we did see an Eastern Screech Owl!"
"Visited on Labor Day weekend Sunday around noon. There weren't too many other cars in the parking lot. The visitor center is pretty small, but they have a good selection of items in the gift shop. The bathrooms are also located inside the visitor center. This is also where you can get your blue goose passport cancelation stamp. They actually sell the blue goose book here. This is only the 3rd NFWS gift shop we've ever encountered that sells it. We've been to almost 2 dozen. The parking spots around the back are much better as a few are shaded by large trees. This is also where the picnic tables are. There is also a dock to launch boats or kayaks at no cost. The lady working in the visitor center said another of people get stuck in there and that the boat launch further up the road on the way in is much better. We hiked the boardwalk trail loop, and it was very nice. It was a pretty warm day, and I'd recommend coming earlier or maybe later in the day. If we were to come back, we'd bring our kayaks and probably fishing gear. We'd like to explore the park more."
"This place is beautiful, peaceful and such an important ecosystem balancer. I love that there are few people visiting it. The best way to explore it is with a kayak and enough mosquito repellent. Very good visitor center, clean bathrooms and good information."
"The lady at the visitors center was very friendly and informative. She told me about the trails and informed which trails have ticks and mosquitos. I ended up hiking the Dike Trail to see the osprey nest. The trail was graveled and watch your steps because there were some dog poop on the trail. I was going to hike the trail with the boardwalk, but saw the tick warning sign and decided not to since I recent got Lyme disease. The view is amazing and peaceful. The other trails appear to be more woodlands. This refuge is dog friendly. My girls had fun. There is also an auto tour. It doesn't seem to come with audio though."
